You seem to care, since we stomp your politics into the ground.

The last time America and Europe went head-to-head over Iranian sanctions, Europe pushed back and the United States was forced to back down.

Market watchers are now questioning whether the European Union will deploy the same legislative weapons it used 20 years ago, when the Clinton administration threatened sanctions against European companies. In response, the EU passed so-called blocking statutes that prohibited European companies from complying with U.S. sanctions, giving them cover to continue with business as usual.

Then as now, the Europeans had a lot to lose. The EU exported €10.8 billion in goods to Iran last year, while its imports from the country totaled €10.1 billion. The union is one of the largest markets for Iranian petroleum products. European multinationals like French oil major Total and aircraft maker Airbus have announced billions of dollars in deals since sanctions ended in 2016.

The EU could use the blocking statutes to protect these companies if Trump threatened sanctions, EU Ambassador to the United States David O'Sullivan said last year.

The result of the late 90s standoff was a sort of cold war that simmered for a decade, in which the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations kept the sanctions on the books, but did not enforce them for fear of sparking a trade war with Europe. But it remains to be seen whether Trump, a president prone to brinkmanship and trade tariffs, would also back down.

You lost the last time you tried this and you will lose again.

Each nation weilds its power and influence to advance its agenda. For example, Germany has advanced its interests by bullying the rest of the EU.

Look at the facts. Grennel tweeted
"As @realdonaldtrump said, US sanctions will target critical sectors of Iran's economy. German companies doing business in Iran should wind down operations immediately."

Nothing wrong with it. If Germany is against nuclear proliferation, particularly by a rogue terrorist nation like Iran, then the rational act is to stop operations with Iran (stop enabling Iran to become a nuclear power).

Intelligent officials in the govt don't get upset over such comments by Grennel, that they pretend to be insulted shows that the German govt does not like Trumps Iran policy and have decided to use Grennel to make a statement.

The fact the German people have got their panties in a wad over Grennel shows the German people are shallow.

Germany certainly has a Germany first policy, which means they will sell anything to anybody even our enemies.

And you think we should have more respect for your interests??

I agree. So where would you want concessions from Germany and where would you want your government make concessions to us?

Thank God the "insult" was nothing major. I thought he may have said something negative about the Audi RS6.
