Guns do not equate with death. The love of guns is more like the love of fast cars or some other kind of machinery. Guns are fascinating for those reasons for most gun nuts, not some wierd death fetish.

So it's okay for you to call people names based on arbitrary terms but not for anyone else. That's exactly what I thought you were saying. Congratulations, you're a hypocrite.

Fast cars are for travelling. Search your memory and decide what guns are for.

Guns are for putting holes in targets (at least in my experience).

You are failing to conceptualize the notion of denieing people basic civil rights for attributes of which they have no control, and dismissing people who are willfully ignorant. There is no contradiction to be made.

Just stating what the vast majority of guns in the U.S. are actually used for (well, that and taking up closet space).

the 40mm is Class III weapon, and harder to get than hens teeth, while the 37mm isn't even a weapon.

since the club doesn't rent them, and doesn't sell them on their web site, logic dictates that they are the property of the members and they followed the path of least resistance-the 37mm.

(that and the barrels look kinda thin)

$300 vs. $2000...not hard to guess which prop gets bought at christmas time.

Or you should base your beliefs on observations.

A purpose purpose is defined by what it is used for. I believe you may be applying the usage of .00047% of the guns in the country to the 99.99953% which are used for other purposes.

It's funny. A political statement. Santa has brought me firearms twice. Not really sure what the big deal is.

And sports cars/bikes are for going REALLY fast. Inherently dangerous to put a human behind a machine capable of around 200 mph on the street... but you see someone strapping a kid into an Audi, you don't freak out.

A Ferrari is almost certainly not going to save your family. A gun very well could. Especially if it is 1940 and the Germans are handing you your ass.

And we will be glad to come to the aid of the needy again. Esp you Aussies, who have stood beside us in every armed conflict in memory. You are special to us.

I don't think its embellishment as it is rank ignorance on which end of a gun is the part that goes boom.

I am not sure if they do. I do like the all wheel drive, the car handles the snow much better than my past car.

    LOL

That is true.... I have taken it camping though. I took the Impreza because I couldn't find the keys to my truck.... lol

No one is being denied anything. Which is an entirely different discussion for a different thread. I was simply calling you out on something you needed to be called out on; your double standard in how people should be treated. I don't ever want to hear you call anyone else a bigot on this forum again. Because you have clearly displayed in this thread that you have no moral hangups about bigotry.

Yeah, I know. I was just trying to be nice about it.

Guns are for projecting lead into bodies, very often resulting in death. If people don't use them, good. If people give them in, better. If people destroy them and learn how to get on with others like normal human beings, best of all.

Guns are for projecting lead - the "into bodies" part isn't always true.

Most guns in the US are used exclusively for shooting paper.
The second most common usage is killing animals - whether for food, protection or elimination of pests.
The least common usage is shooting other humans.

Possibly. I can only say you do an incredible amount of the third, which seems to give a lot to the gun-sellers in return for nothing useful whatever.

Yes - ex-serviceman. They told me never to point it at anyone I didn't intend to kill. I don't intend to kill anyone, like most normal people, so I leave popguns to kids playing cowboys.

Considering that nearly half of American households own firearms and there are over 190 million privately owned firearms in the US, only a tiny percentage of them are used for shooting humans.

In 2006, there were over 12 million people who hunted. For comparison, in 2007 there were less than 32,000 gun deaths including suicide, homicide and accidental shootings. There were another 70,000 gun injuries that year. So for comparison, there were over 12,000,000 people shooting or attempting to shoot animals and less than 102,000 people shot by guns. (I used two different years because it was easier to find data, they are consecutive years, so it should be pretty similar in each case.)

Considering the fact that most hunters shoot more than one animal per year and have more than one gun, far more guns were used for hunting than for shooting humans.

Then you have to consider the fact that even though 12 million people hunt, about 50 million households have firearms and well over 100 million people have a gun in their house. The vast majority of firearms must either never be fired at all or only fired at paper.
