17,000 bigots rallying against Islam? Not much 'kudos' there. Now, if they were rallying against Islamic extremism-a different matter altogether-I'd be in full support.
This bunch, 'PEGIDA', insists they aren't Nazis...hmm.

 

Actually I think what they're doing is brilliant. Someone needs to take a stand against Islamification of European lands. They're neither Nazis nor bigots. I would call them concerned and responsible citizens who rightfully worry about the future of their own kids.

I would imagine half of them are anti-Islam, half of them are just jumping on the bandwagon to protest the excessive immigration in the last two decades.

 

These sort of rallies have happened in the UK too. These guys would complain about anything. First it was Jews, next it was Black, then it was Muslims (still is) and now immigrants. Meh I'm bored of this.

There is this program here my daughter was telling me about yesterday. Think it is called Google. They film people watching programs and then air them. She said they had aired a British Muslim Dad and his two sons during the Sydney attack. Dad was going crazy. 'OMG they are all going to get started again. This is Muslims they will say. They will go on and on that we are all like this. OMG' roughly speaking. He seemed somewhat scared.

However what you say about Muslims keeping quiet about things is not true. Muslims are the main source of keeping our police ahead of extremists in the UK. That is why more people are arrested of intending attacks than getting on to doing them. They have also been very forefront about telling the authorities when they fear family members have gone to Syria. Recently we had a situation where two, the parents of one had got onto the police immediately got a very harsh sentence as an example, there was talk that they might not be so forthcoming in the future.

It's a lot more of a modern problem with Islam and one which our governments have been involved in bringing Salafi Islam to the West due to their love of Saudi Arabia and allowing Muslims who did not come from that tradition to be indoctrinated in it. Salafi by itself is no threat. It is supposed to be apolitical. The problem comes when they become political as they have and as they were supported to be by the US both in Afghanistan and and Syria.

It is a much more complicated issue than 'backward religion'. That really is just our populous ignorance grasping bigotry.

No you have a lot more to learn before you will get near that. In Europe we are moving back to the mentality of 30's Germany against Muslims.
