Sharia is no more a "change" in our legal system than Jewish Beth Din tribunals are. In both cases these are voluntary arrangements where both parties in a dispute agree to arbitration. Furthermore these tribunals have no legitimacy under English Law which is always the ultimate arbitrator and neither party is obligated, legally, to abide by the findings of the tribunal.

Anti-Islamic sentiment is becoming a Norm in the minds of most who are not Muslim. This is a result of multiple factors, including but not limited to:

Extreme violence in the name of the religion.
Attempts to push belief and practices on those who do not want it.
A general belief that it promotes a backward turn in societies.
Disrespect for half the population (Women).
Discomfort with a lack of personal hygiene.

Western society finds a return to 14th century practices to be unacceptable. And the slow but steady dismissal of belief in a God entity as science education grows contributes to this as well.

 

if its becoming a norm, its more likely because of factors such as

1. gullibility to misrepresentations of the religion, both by extremists and by western anti islamic sources.

2. A persons own internal issues, which include fear of difference

3. lack of exposure and or contact with real muslims

4. adherence to ignorant prejudices.

Not necessarily in that order, but usually a combination of all four.

If (as in my case), the distaste for Islam is profoundly disturbing....why would you expect me to seek exposure or contact with "Real Muslims" in the first place? It's a bit of a catch22.

A fine co-ordination of hatred for Muslims with a definite undercut in Europe of hatred of Jews. Both want the same thing Jews in Israel and Muslims back home and they will ensure that non violently to the extent that they can get Governments on hand and violently to the extent they cannot.

Was watching a BBC news 24 political talk a few weeks ago. A French woman was speaking and saying how disappointed they were that UKIP had got it's hold in the UK. They had really thought and hoped that the UK would stay out of this and be able to pull people back. She pointed out that Farage's relationship with Le Penn was far more than he let on ...until the time is right of course.

I will say though that not all people who get involved in these organisations are, at the moment, raging Nazis or even virulent racists - what they are are people frustrated with what is happening mainly economically since 2007 and not aware enough not to be fooled by such people usually with a low understanding of racism and a willingness to buy that it is OK. It is only PC not to be racist of course.

Muslims, Jews and Christians got along in secular Iraq and secular Syria. Libya also was a tolerant country. But they all got destroyed by the USA/UK.
