    Interesting.

Trump acknowledged the poverty in the inner cities ("your neighbourhoods are like war zones" etc), but of course c.44 million Americans are officially measured as living in poverty, which includes millions of white Americans. Does he believe this all comes down to innate biological characteristics?

Hence he doesn't have to promote policies that would directly eliminate poverty, such as guaranteed above poverty-level participation in the economy for all working age citizens (a perfectly do-able, if radical solution to poverty, in this age of AI and IT).

I agree, our system is grotesque idiocy hidden with material apathy. Though I have reservations of propaganda, I find that it is the only way of connecting with the modern public. Make sense and have teeth, but people like us will always be ostracized from the conversation. In this case, how effective can we really be?

I’m not a defeatist, but a realist, currently working through the concept of proper messaging.

Eugenics ideology (now known as Biological Determinism) is a justification for maintaining structural hierarchy in society. The ideology can be summed up as follows.

It is not because someone had a rich daddy that they have achieved success - rather it is due to inherent strengths or weaknesses in character which are genetically inherited.Hierarchy in society is then justified as the natural outcropping of genetic evolution. Survival of the fittest.

Messing with these hierarchies would be tampering with the "Natural Order" and the survival of humanity.

This ideology became very popular after the first world war. North America and Europe were on what could be termed as the Eugenics bandwagon.
Hitler's association with eugenics was due to his taking some of the tenets to their extreme - however - if Hitler was actually following the theory properly he would have put the Jews in high places rather than going after them.

After WW2 - because of Hitler - most people, at least publicly, jumped off the Eugenics bandwagon. This was kind of throwing the baby out with the bath water as the theory is not all bad. Parts of the theory are inherently illogical however other parts are sound. Social engineering is not "all bad" - the question is rather who can be trusted not to misuse the ideology.

Mendel argued (back in the day) that the poor should not be helped as this would be tampering with the natural order - we don't want these bad genes rising in society as this would pollute the gene pool. The poor are where they are because of genetic deficiency of some sort.

Maggie Thatcher and Ronald Reagan were adherents to Eugenics ideology.

Trump (like or dislike the guy) is an elitist. Elitists - especially rich ones - tend to like to justify their positions on the basis of superiority of character of one form or another - in this case genetic superiority.

Trumps immigration ideology comes right out of a Eugenics textbook. These people are polluting society.
Trumps policy on the poor - making welfare tougher - forcing them to work, drug testing and so on.
Cutting funding to planned parenthood - no need to help the poor (kind of misguided though as a proper application would support more abortion).
Trump is a big fan of increasing police power/ decreasing individual liberty. His pardoning of Arpaio shows his lack of concern for individual liberty.
His reinstatement of asset forfeiture law - is another example of lack of respect for individual liberty and the rule of law.

Eugenics adherents care little for individual liberty - especially for the "lower classes" - it is an ideology that lends itself very well to authoritarianism/totalitarianism.

Trump's father was a Eugenics adherent and Trump has made made comments in relation to his "good genes" being the source of his success. The Establishment in general favors Eugenics ideology - which is no surprise. People in high places of power tend to like to justify their position as a function of personal aptitude rather than - daddy was rich or - right place at the right time - the boss was Italian and you happen to be Italian (nepotism)/ who you know or are related to - or other factors.

This was a very brief summary of Eugenics/Biological determinism also known as the "nature nurture debate" - in summary it turns out that it is mixture of both.
