Will these ever end? I would think by now LE departments would have training to avoid these situations. Who is right and wrong here:

I watched a video today that showed the individuals shot trying to run over a cop. They had guns in the car. Likely the car was stolen.

No the shooting of individuals using a car as a weapon to run over police will neither stop nor should it stop.

Direct from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office:

"What we know to date is that on Friday morning two of our Deputies were attempting to conduct a follow-up investigation on what they believed was a possible stolen car that had just recently fled from another Deputy in the Cocoa area.

The vehicle in question was first observed at Clearlake and Dixon, then moments later in the area of Ivy St. in Cocoa at which time the two Deputies observed it making a left hand turn onto Stetson and immediately into the driveway of a nearby residence.

At this point the Deputies exited their vehicles in an attempt to make contact with the occupants, however, as you will see in the attached in-car camera video, the driver of the vehicle backed out of the driveway and turned toward the Deputies and their vehicles that were parked in the roadway.

As you can clearly hear and see on the video recording, Deputy Santiago–Miranda gives repeated verbal commands, 7 to be exact, for the driver of the vehicle to stop the car, however, the driver of the vehicle, 16 year old Angelo Crooms turns and accelerates the vehicle towards Deputy Santiago-Miranda who was then forced to fire his service weapon in an attempt to stop the deadly threat of the car from crashing into him.

Please pay close attention to the video recording, as you can not only hear the repeated verbal commands from the Deputies for the driver of the vehicle to stop, but you can actually see the tires of the vehicle turn sharply as the car accelerates towards Deputy Santiago-Miranda who is now in immediate danger of being struck by the vehicle.

In addition to the video evidence that shows our Deputy in harms way, an occupant from inside the vehicle has provided a thorough statement to FDLE that confirms the occupants of the vehicle heard the verbal commands of the Deputy and that Crooms still turned the vehicle and accelerated."

This link includes the video. Pay special attention at :48 These officers didn't do anything wrong.

As an aside, Benjamin Crump is a complete race-baiting attention-whoring dirtbag on the level of Obama and Al Sharpton. You can almost guess which side is wrong and which side is right based on which side Crump is defending, because he has a habit of choosing the wrong side.

I didn't watch the video but I believe what you said about it. Aint it amazing how a woman who claimed she saw the whole thing from beginning to end never mentioned the guns or why those boys tried to run over a cop? Had there been no body cameras, this would have been the stuff peaceful riots, looting and arson are made of. It's also probably explains why the ACLU went from demanding body cams to abolishing them. But with the racial climate we're currently in (thanks liberals) a few publicized choice words could spark an early run on FREE Christmas shopping.

@Steve N the link to the video is in my post #3 if you'd like to watch. Around the :48 mark the car very clearly turns and accelerates towards the officer. Between the video and the statement from the third person in the vehicle, there should be NO DOUBT the officers didn't do anything wrong. You can't cry "victim" when you get shot or killed, if you're told to stop SEVEN TIMES and then you try to run down a police officer with a car.

saw the video, the requests were pretty clear, "stop the vehicle".
we never got to part 2, which would have been "exit the vehicle"

    compliance is the key.

Often it is the behavior after being apprehended where they really get themselves in trouble. These two suicidal idiots are a prime example.

This is a great example of Media race baiting. Notice the headline vs the substance

"The footage from Santiago-Miranda's camera shows both deputies get out of their vehicles and tell the teenagers to "stop the vehicle" as they back out of a driveway. According to the Brevard Sheriff's Office, Crooms accelerated the car, and Santiago-Miranda was "forced" to discharge his firearm in order to "stop the deadly threat of the car from crashing into him.""

They will never label it as "2 teens fatally shot as officers try to prevent themselves from being roadkill"

    Just saying

This is how the media and democrats OWN black people

    SAD

This is why the MSM is partly responsible when they purposely misreport cases causing people to riot. The rioting then gets them more clicks. They’re using people.

This is nothing new. The media has been using the "useful idiots" as pawns to push their ratings for years now, whether it's to get them to spin in circles hysterically that "Trump BAAAAD!!!!", or whether it's to get them to riot and destroy things because it makes for more exciting news, or whether it's to get them to hide under their beds wearing a mask and glued to their tv for the next COVID death count update. Think about it, do you check the weather more when it is beautiful outside, or when a storm is coming? The media is just feeding on the fears and worries that are part of human nature, and they're using the lowest element (the uninformed) as their foundation.

Trump signs a new peace deal ---- yawn.
The whole world might die of COVID ---- omg click on that article!
The economy is improving beyond expectations ---- yawn.
Misguided riot #214 downtown tonight ---- grab your hoodie and a brick it's been a boring day!
This week's weather will be sunny and 70's ---- yawn.
Tropical storm brewing in the gulf ---- omg buy toilet paper and water and turn on the weather channel!

    2 mistakes by the cops:
    1) Nether blocked the car from getting out of the driveway.
    2) the 2nd cop leaves the protection of his car and stands directly in front of the suspect car. The 1st cop did the correct thing and used his car as a shield. The reckless move made the shooting inevitable once the suspect car moved forward.

No, your tactical quarterbacking doesn't work. The db's caused this, reacting on scene requires thinking on the fly. They deserved what they got.

    5 Mistakes by Criminals
    1) Stealing Car
    2) Illegal Guns in Car
    3) Failing to comply to Cops demands
    4) Using Car to try to run over Cops
    5) Being too Stupid to realize that using a stolen Car as a Weapon will end up with their miserable Lives being ended by Full metal Jacket flying projectiles

I feel bad for the one in the passenger seat. It wasn't necessarily his idea to drive into the officer, yet he paid the price for the driver's poor choices.

As for the driver, I imagine he knew they would be arrested for stealing a vehicle and possessing illegal firearms. The consequences would be severe, and he hoped by ramming the officer he could get away and avoid prison time, but at that point he's only digging his hole deeper -- 6 feet as it turns out.

I'd like to understand what led these young men down this criminal path. We can't do anything for these two individuals, but it may be possible to prevent it from happening to anyone else. These people had families who are now mourning them. I don't wish that on anyone.

its not the laws, its the profiling. The same laws apply to all races. Its the profiling thats an issue. Now is this profiling all a conspiracy of racist cops or did a certain race earn this profiling with having much higher crime rates? I'm sure there are instances of both. These cant all be grouped into one category. The George Floyd incident looked like the cops fault to me. The guy in philly that charged at cops with a knife does NOT look like the cops fault to me. I don't think some extra training for cops would hurt. I also don't think some extra education of how to handle a police situation for civilians would hurt either. I have never taken such a class, for some reason, something in my brain just tells me "don't run at a cop with weapons and expect not to end up 6 feet under", but hey thats just me, I don't speak for everyone. Perhaps some type of education IS needed.

No, trump said it’s the laws. Specifically the 94 crime bill.
