I don't see any molten metal. I see granular debris falling off of a piece of solid metal that has just been pulled out of a very hot fire, but no molten metal. I also fail to grasp what you mean to prove by this. There is nothing unusual about buried organic material burning for a moth or more. Get a clue. Thermite burns up in seconds. That is how it produces so much heat all in one place. It cannot be made to burn more slowly.

It would have to have been sitting, unmelted, in a pool of molten metal. This makes no sense to anyone with an IQ over 80. Metals do not melt at the surface only and slowly slough off like ice. What is your source fror that? Can you verify that it is steel, and that hat is not some sort of slag left over after the rest of the steel was cast into some sort of mold? It seems rather strange that anyone would go to the trouble of melting steel just so they could pour it out one the ground.
