Trump doesn't know WikiLeaks? Roll the tape.[IMG]

When asked if President Donald Trump still "loved WikiLeaks," as he had stated previously, the President told reporters he knows "nothing about WikiLeaks" and it's not his "thing." CNN's Brianna Keilar reminds viewers of Trump's past praise of WikiLeaks.

Yep...A lot of arm twisting behind the scenes. This is interesting. This was published just a day before his arrest.

Spanish police ‘recover Julian Assange surveillance footage’
Material that originated from Ecuadorian embassy was reportedly offered for sale

    https://www.theguardian.com/media/2...eaks-says-spies-at-work-in-ecuadorean-embassy

WikiLeaks has said it has uncovered a surveillance operation against Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian embassy and that images, documents and videos gathered have been offered for sale.

Spanish police were said to have mounted a sting operation against unnamed individuals in Madrid who offered the material for sale in what lawyers and colleagues of Assange said on Wednesday was an attempt at extortion.

Some of the material came from video cameras with a capacity to record audio and which had been installed last year, a press conference organised by WikiLeaks was told.

WikiLeaks said material including video, audio, copies of private legal documents and a medical report had turned up in Spain, where a group was said to have threatened to start publishing unless they were paid €3m (£2.6m)...

Don't know why he'd know a whole lot at this point but what he allegedly did, if he conspired with anyone to obtain classified information so he could publish it, off to a life in prison

So if a criminal refuses to turn themselves in and hides out and after years we catch him they should get credit for all the years they resist arrest and refused to turn themselves in? How long was the Unibomber hiding out in his little cabin? Should he get time served credit for that?

Those charges were dropped almost two years ago.

He'd have no need nor reason to lie about it. His problem stems from the Bradley Manning espionage and publishing of that information.

It's not only him. Wikileaks is the network of people. I'm almost certain that they didn't release everything. An insurance policy. I believe that their members have got a sufficient amount of dirt on some people in higher places to have them worried. Both in Europe and the USA.

No, his problem stems from attempting to assist Manning in gathering more information... as the indictment makes clear...

The classified information from Manning is all we need and all that will probably be prosecuted and no I have not read the indictment charges in full yet. I think we know it was a Russian group of some kind that phished Podesta's email password and hacked those emails. If they gave them to Assange directly or through someone else as he claims doesn't really matter. It wouldn't be a crime for him to publish it, NYT versus Nixon on the Pentagon Papers, Nixon couldn't stop the NYT from printing the Pentagon Papers. News papers and "journalist" and publishers can print anything if they are not the originator even illegally obtained stuff.. So don't know what they are going to get him on on the HC/DNC emails.

How close are he and Bradley Manning intertwined? Did Assange in anyway encourage him to engage in espionage conspire with him to do so he could post it on Wikileaks? Does the DOJ have evidence he did? We wait to see.

I don't think Wikileaks wants to get into a fight with the top intelligence agencies and top law enforcement agencies and top prosecutorial agencies in the free world, all out for blood, with the populace behind them. That's not a war they will win.

Let's see how loyal Julien and Bradley remain to each other. :rock_slayer:

Or you could read the indictment.... it clearly covers two of your questions and strongly intimates the answer to the third...

(Hint, the answers are reasonably, Yes, and Most likely)

It's only 7 pages.... shouldn't be too taxing (oops, shouldn't mention taxes, huh)

I'll even help you along... the 2 key numbers to read in the indictment are 7 and 18

yeah I was just doing so on the side but it keeps closing on me because NO I DON'T WANT TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE NYT, just got in few minutes ago

    CNN
"Washington (CNN)WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been charged with helping the former Army intelligence specialist Chelsea Manning access Defense Department computers in 2010 in an effort to disclose secret government documents, the US Justice Department announced Thursday morning, hours after Assange was forcibly removed by authorities from the Ecuadoran embassy in London."

Yep that's where this is headed. Remember when Maddow got Trump's tax return and why it was not illegal for her to put it on the air, because she had not part in getting and neither encouraged or assisted in getting it, like someone just gave Assange a copy of the HC/DNC emails. With Manning it is alleged he was part and parcel to the whole thing.

Just the one count nothing to do with HC/DNC emails

Way to go Trump DOJ and DOS.

I agree. They will come to some sort of arrangement behind the scenes. However, I don't see Assange being a free man ever again.

He's hated by a lot of countries. That said, IMO, it's the people that feed him the information that need to be punished the most. I think this dirtbag sexual predater has done his time.

Let the NSA follow his movements digitally and catch the Americans giving him info.

    Yes as I further said

His problem stems from the Bradley Manning espionage and publishing of that information and his role in that. Not the HC/DNC email publishing.

    And again

How close are he and Bradley Manning intertwined?

    What does the DOJ/FBI have?

Since they mentioned this web service by name, I'm going to assume they have the chats... if so, they don't even need Manning to testify, although I assume they could get her to do so if needed...

If they have evidence to convict him of being in on it from the get-go you betcha unless of course a Bernie Sanders gets elected and declares Assange was serving the higher cause and was exposing to the people what the government was really doing and making the government transparent and blah blah blah and pardons him. Obama pardoned Manning.

And I hope they can prove it in court, that they got him by the gonads. Depends on the evidence they have but I think this is about to get really good and it's the most bipartisan thing I've seen in years, even in DC both sides want this guy put away for a long long time heck he could face the death penalty. I'm still pissed about the Manning thing and how he got off.

And if Assange gets convicted and goes off the Leavenworth for life I hope reporters ask Obama, well what do you have to say about your pardon of Manning and now his espionage partner going to prison for life after receiving his due process and a jury of his peers?

He won't face the death penalty and he won't go away for life (although seeing him get arrested today, he looks a lot closer to the end of life than a 47 year old should)... The legal guy on MSNBC said the probable maximum penalty for this charge is 5 years, which frankly seems a bit light to my taste. Not life, but I would think 10-12 years wouldn't be outrageous.

I guess the charge is lighter because he apparently was unable to technically crack the password, although intent should count for more than competence.

P.S. As I told the other guy, Manning wasn't pardoned.... Her sentence was commuted...

Why do I think Seth Rich’s name is gonna come up as a result of this.......oh wait.......we’ll probably never hear his name again as Assange gets placed in solitary confinement in a max security prison with no access to the outside world.

I'm quite certain that things like that happen.

He is not being held by the UK, over a warrant in Sweden (which the Swedes are thinking about reinstating), he is being held for extradition to the United States.
