I just read that Caitlyn Jenner has threw her hat in the ring for Governor of California in the upcoming recall election. She will run as a Republican.
Questions for California residents: Do you think she has a chance? Would you vote for her if she has a solid Republican platform?

I think it's hilarious that she is running as a Republican. The liberal Democrats won't know what to do. They can't criticize her because she's LGBT, else they will be labelled as hypocrites and transphobic. I love watching the left eat itself....

I'm not a Californian so it doesn't effect me. However, I think her best chance of winning is in CA.

It will be interesting to see how Republicans, especially older ones, will support her candidacy.

They accepted Trump and he was Democrat most of his life. Maybe they just care about the super rich and brand names.

Oh my, what fun this election will be. How will the lefty’s in Kommiefornia ever live with themselves if they vote for a Republican. How will they ever live with themselves if they don’t vote for a trans. Oh the guilt trips.
The leftys may just explode. Or would that be an implode?

Her website lists zero policy positions but instead links to a store to buy her “merch”

That should tell anyone enough about her policy

Does California want a washed up reality TV star billionaire that is more interested in promoting themself over any substantive policy?

They voted against the orange one twice so I don’t see this round being any different

I support Jenner. Now we will watch the machine chew her up like it did Arnold. Only China approved candidates win in California where ccp agents run vote harvesting mills.

Though Caitlyn Jenner is one of the most famous transgender people in America, the announcement of her candidacy for California governor was greeted hostilely by one of the state’s largest LGBTQ-rights groups and by many trans activists around the country.

“Make no mistake: we can’t wait to elect a #trans governor of California,” tweeted the group, Equality California. “But @Caitlyn_Jenner spent years telling the #LGBTQ+ community to trust Donald Trump. We saw how that turned out. Now she wants us to trust her? Hard pass.”

When I first read your thread's title, yesterday, I figured this was something you were suggesting, but didn't get the chance to post what a ridiculous idea that was, before hearing that it was serious!

I don't really know anything relevant about Caitlyn Jenner. But, I'm sorry, without an appropriate background, I am against any celebrity jumping into a job for which they're unqualified. Granted, they can sometimes surprise you: Schwartzenegger seems to have done a pretty good job, based on my, East Coast, vague impressions of California politics. But my initial reaction is one of great skepticism.

Had she gone the route of Sonny Bono, settling for getting her feet wet in a mayoral office, I would be more supportive. But jumping straight into not just A governorship, but for CALIFORNIA which, if it were an independent nation, would have the world's 7th largest economy, I believe, is just a bridge too far.

While I reserve the right to update my view, if I am surprised by things I later learn about Ms. Jenner, as far as I now know, she has no applicable experience. Her main asset is her fame. I would think that Californians can do a whole lot better.

The idea that voters on the Left vote for a candidate just because they are a member of a minority group, is nothing but your own, utterly misguided conception. Nor is there anything about voting against someone who lacks the qualifications for an elected office, that reflects negatively or to the voter's discredit, regardless of that candidate's minority status.

Why do you keep attacking her because she is a she-man-rah?

It would be dispiritingly sad if the state of affairs had sunken that low; I am hoping, with fair to moderate confidence, that this is not the case.

My, my...now don't tell me the LGBTQ community can't deal with "diversity" of thought in their ranks! I know a lesbian woman whose opinions of "people of color" would make a KKK Grand Dragon blush, AND SHE LIVES WITH A BLACK WOMAN!?! Guess the worst that can be said of them is they're as crazy as the rest of humanity.

Anti trans and bigotry are when you are against someone for specific groups to which they belong. I am against her personal character and narrative (or lack there of in this case).

Try again. With some integrity this time.

Not at all; is thinking, your Achilles' heel? Here, I'll explain this to you, slowly. You said, "How will (the lefties-- I corrected your spelling of the plural form, which you'd spelled as if it were possessive) ever live with themselves if they don't vote for a trans(?- you also forgot the question mark).

So I responded that there would be no, in your words, "guilt trips," about not voting for a trans, i.e., Jenner, because there was nothing about not voting for (which is the equivalent of, "voting against," as I'd put it, in case that's where you got confused) a candidate, regardless of their minority status (i.e., trans gender), if that person is not qualified for the office for which they are running, which reflects poorly on the voter (i.e., the Lefty). That is as straight-forward of an addressing of your point as is possible. I also addressed your other point, if you're not too mentally worn-out to read that simplified explanation.

You said, "How will the left(ies)...ever live w/ themselves if they vote for a Republican(?)" Caitlyn Jenner is going to run as a Republican. Were you referring to someone else? If not, the suggestion is that these lefties, if they did vote for her, would be doing so because lefties love to vote for trans-gender candidates. Was that not what you'd intended to imply? So I answered that voters on the Left do NOT vote for someone, just because the candidate is a minority (as, for example, a trans-gendered person). Do you see how I understood you just fine? And directly responded to your points?
If it's not too much effort, I'd love to hear what it was about my reply that gave you the idea that my reading comprehension was not up to snuff.
