Canada is very similar to the USA. English speaking, watch the same media, frequent the USA, lots of trade and tourism. Meanwhile Toronto has 1.8 million people and 46 murders. Lots of minorities. Montreal also has 1.8 million people. 14% black and hispanic. only 23 murders. why such a difference between large American and Canadian cities? is it their gun laws? is it their respect for life? is it their socio-economic equality? do we need to mimic Canada's gun laws to match their murder rate? would it at least help?

I can't answer your questions but your comparison doesn't look Apples to Apples. My research shows that Montreal and Toronto blacks make just under 9% of the population for both cities. Compare that to Chicago where blacks make up 32% of the population. Blacks in Canada might be less inclined to self destruct...maybe they don't feel obligated or center around anti-white....which I think is an issue in urban black America. Our history of slavery here in us taints the culture in black communities. It might be good to compare the status of the family for Canadian Blacks...is 85% brought up in broken families or raised by single mothers? I'm all for learning from Canada if the state of Canadian Blacks are better. But sacrificing my right to protect myself or my family is not an option and not the problem.

Miami has a murder rate of 17 per 100,000 and is in one of the most pro-gun states in the nation. In contrast, NYC has a murder rate of only 3.8 per 100,000. It has strict gun control and plenty of minorities.
NYC also had periods of high rates and numbers of murder and NYC has had idiotic gun control laws since the Irish Mafia days and the Sullivan law

Perhaps because sadly minorities commit most of the crimes in America ? Prison populations are mostly compromised of minorities..... By the way, I am Latino and Hispanic, most Hispanics do not consider themselves White, And do constitute a large proportion of Criminals, although a smaller segment of the pie compared to Blacks, and closer to Asians which are the smallest percentage of Criminals.
New York City Criminals have vast unfettered access to inexpensive illegal firearms. There is also a vast paid informant network that accounts for putting criminals behind bars.
Toronto has many organised Gangs, perhaps they just do not kill as much as just punching out their Rivals...
