Yes. The hospital ship was sent there with the mission of NOT taking COVID patients. That changed later when the mission to take those who were not exposed to COVID didn't make sense.

The same was true after the ban against European travel.

There are still hospitals with PPE shortages, and Biden has said he will use the defense production act to rectify that. Trump failed to do that, leaving hospitals in peril. US deaths among healthcare workers were especially high through last spring. Retired doctors and nurses returned to work to help carry the load COVID was causing. Those retirees were know to be at special risk, and they didn't get adequate PPE.

Obama's direction on mask production was to call for bids for a manufacturing line that could be built or refurbished to create a million n95 masks per day.

Trump canceled a bid for that when he took office!!

Those in the Trump executive branch do not agree that there was ANY plan for vaccine production and distribution.

Governors do not have the defense production act, have more limited ability to borrow money, are not in a position to leverage the few major labs that were in a position to create and process tests and equipment for detecting and treating COVID patients safely. These are all private businesses under capitalism and they are NOT created on a one for each state basis. So, the crap about each state having the capability is some sort of communist dream of yours.

 

Epidemiologists and others who study this, say it is a LOW BALL number.

It turns out that this year saw a significant spike in deaths that are not accounted for - excess deaths. Examination of these numbers show that more people have died from COVID than have been accounted for in government data.

So why would China limit internal travel but allow international travel freely? You're not making sense.

 

Their travel restrictions are not evidence as to the source of the virus. In fact, it would have been outrageous if China had blocked Americans from leaving China. And, Trump's travel restrictions only slowed travel. Americans could still fly to China and back.

In fact, it is well known that bats carry all sorts of different strains of COVID virus. It is known that over the last century or so COVID versions have moved into the human population. In one case, it happened to mine workers in a remote mine in the south of China, with remoteness preventing serious spreading.

 

Because no one has shown me why I shouldn't. No economist and certainly not you.
