My democratic governor did all those things to my state, not President Trump. Trump didn't really shut down anything.

 

The USA has full ability to control travel to and from America.

Trump totally failed at that. Blaming that on China is just stupid.

But more than that, the vast majority of strains of COVID in all but one or two states came from EUROPE.

And, that came from Trump's failure to control travel with Europe.

The USA did this to ourselves. Trump canceled pandemic response planning, so we were not prepared. Trump did nothing AT ALL to recover from our lack of preparedness. And, we still have an abundance of Americans who are totally opposed to science, including medical science.

Trump could not have done less to help America get through this pandemic.

And, 400,000 Americans PAID for that with their LIVES.

 

Trump did nothing at all. So, you have THAT point. He hasn't shown ANY interest in 400,000 Americans dying.

The rest has a lot to do with whether you value America lives and how much you hate medical science.

No the rest has to do with you cannot have it both ways. The economy was ruined by the decisions of governors to shut down. Trump didn't make those decisions. The governors, however, botched their shutdown orders. The only people I know who were shut down cut hair though I acknowledge restaurants also took a beating. Everybody else worked some degree of normal and some worked even more hours than normal because of increased demand. I wish they hell my governor has really shut down the state for a few weeks. Instead he opened up just in time for vacation travelers to flood the state with COVID.

 

Our economy is in tatters because of the Chinese virus that's a no brainer. Trump had us going full tilt you must admit. His worst mistake was listening to Dr. Fauci and his band of scientists and agreeing to the shutdowns. The economy then tanked of course.

Modern medical science says masks are worn to stop water droplets that get emitted by breathing, talking, sneezing, coughing, etc., etc.

Those droplets can bring along viruses and are believed to be a significant transmission mode.

Stopping the droplets slows transmission.

However, any restrictions could not be expected to treat each business in an identical manner.

We're not going to close down grocery stores, for example.

One of the largest holes seems to me to be the amount of travel we promoted inside America. We had Mardi Gras, spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, travel to other countries (which was NEVER really closed and is how we got the vast majority of our COVID from Europe), crowded vacationing at beaches in various states, etc., etc.

And, of course we had Trump and Republicans teaching the USA that everything from medical science is crap.

Trump even directed federal business aid to anti-vaxers whose business it is to teach people not to get the vaccine!!

The knock on China is NOT that they give false numbers related to their recovery.

It's that they used methods in their recovery that we would see as unacceptable in the least and quite probably criminal.

The idea that the US takes what China says at face value is just plain nutty. We've NEVER done that. Nobody does that. This has been the Trump administration - do you really think the Trump administration is taking China's claims at face value???

Well only the totally insane can ignore CHINERS roll in all this when the entire world was infected as early as Jan 2020.. Again, so how was Trump suppose to suppress a pathogen already raging globally, while organization like WHO informed the President that there was no evidence of human to human transmission, even when Taiwan was reporting human to human spread..

Ask yourself "HOW" did the entire planet contract COVID-19 and what country had the best chance to contain the spread or at least report that the virus was spreading via social interaction..

Trump couldn't do anything because it was already spread globally, hence the word pandemic.. If he had been advised honestly the scenario may or may not have been different.. I guess you never gave thought to why the CHINERS were locking their citizens down, mass disinfecting and masking up way before any other country did.. Logic tells me they knew far more about COVID-19 then the rest of the world did..

We did not slow travel until we were good and solidly infected.

Then, we failed to listen to what medical science had to say about how to get it under control.
