    HYPERLINK has full story

    snip

“We see a cooling trend,” Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center said two years ago, a remark largely ignored but still relevant. “High above Earth’s surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy. If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.”

Like the humans it keeps alive, our star goes through phases, usually about 11 years, over the course of its life. Right now we’re in what NASA calls solar cycle 25, emerging last December from a solar minimum that fell between solar cycles 24 and 25.

“It is important to remember solar activity never stops; it changes form as the pendulum swings,” says Lika Guhathakurta, solar scientist at NASA’s Heliophysics Division
    .

    end snip

It's interesting that the news came out 2 years ago yet not a word from the media nor agenda driven politicians who see the false hysteria as a means to grab more power.

It is political issue, not so much a scientific one. Science tells you that climate changes up and down in average temperature. That is why opposing opinions are divided by political position.

    It's the Solar Min....

This is what that really means, when the Sun goes back to normal, the climate change will be vicious.

Do you guys ever read what you are posting about???

What the sun is doing does not change the fact that humans are polluting well beyond the planets ability to absorb it. We are well into overshoot, and it is going to get much worse unless we hit the brakes on population and consumption.

Cooler? I'm confused, I thought it was getting warmer. Maybe it's because fall has arrived??

Pollution and climate change is two different things

The Sun is not a constant, it waxes and wanes. Right now, it's at a Solar Minimum. When it goes back to normal, that will accelerate climate change.

Fantastic disinformation, this is the correct way how to lie to the masses.
The only thing you need to remove the following article from the web:
    https://www.nasa.gov/feature/yes-the-sun-is-less-active-no-youre-not-likely-to-notice
    [...]
"To be totally clear, this cooling is natural and specific to the thermosphere. The cooling thermosphere does not affect the troposphere, the layer of the atmosphere closest to Earth's surface where people live. The temperatures we experience on the ground do not get colder due to this solar cycle. NASA and other climate researchers continue to see a warming trend in the troposphere."

Please, continue to spread such a great fake news - it will make us feel better.

there we have it. A certain few (leftists no doubt) shall decide how many children we can have, or if we are even worthy of having children. Also, what we consume shall be decided by others

    maybe sterilize babies at birth?

But don't you get it, it set a space age record for cooling

    The planet self regulates.

That is weather, not climate. It is what the believers always say when we have cool months. You can't have it both ways.

let me be more specific, humans are releasing more greenhouse gasses than the planet is able to absorb and process.
There are a whole slew of other problems caused by the massive overpopulation on this planet as well, but I guess those can be saved for a different thread.

Haha, I think most people on here would choke with laughter to hear you call me a leftist.

and yeah, we need to limit the number of children we have, or nature will do it in a far more brutal fashion. It’s simple mathematics. Math doesn’t give a **** that you think it is ok to have 5 kids. Our ability to extract fossil fuels expands in a linear fashion, and we are hitting those limits as easy to extract fossil fuels are being depleted and replaced by sources that have smaller yields and harder to extract. Meanwhile population increases exponentially. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see we are in trouble. All the green tech in the world is not going to be able to meet the energy requirements of a planet with a population of 8 billion that is doubling every several decades.

I don’t think we should act like China, but I definitely think we need to have incentives in place to limit population growth. Things like no government support incentives after the first child, etc. Also we are really going to need to find ways to reduce our consumption of energy, especially here in the USA.

We are rapidly destroying its ability to. Soon we may be hitting positive feedback loops with the thawing of so much methane trapped in the arctic permafrost, and the melting of glaciers that act as a mirror reflecting energy from the sun, among other things. It will self regulate, yeah, but we may not like the way it does it. It will be like a human body ridding itself of a virus.

No matter how you slice it, overpopulation and projected growth should be a topic worth discussing because its directly related to the past present and future climate.

Not saying this is the solution but I'm willing to admit that if there were only a billion in the world we could be total jack-wagons when it comes to the climate and mother Earth wouldn't even know we were here.

Wed all be better off if population growth was stagnated or in decline at least for the short term.

I think the population is also self regulating. When there are too many people I'm confident that something will happen to correct it.

one of the silver linings of covid if there is one, is it has slowed climate change some

Cooling . . . In the extreme upper atmosphere. That doesn't mean cooling here on the surface . . . thanks to this thing called the greenhouse effect. In fact, cooling in the upper atmosphere while the surface is warming is one of the things predicted by AGW, and one of the reasons we know that the warming isn't due to the sun.

Does that mean we should burn fossil fuels?
