    Personally since you live in a society where firearms are allowed to be publicly carried if it came down to choice between banning concealed carry or open carry I'd probably go with banning concealed. Yes there might be some individuals who would get upset at the sight of open carry firearms but;

    1) they'd get used to it;
    2) The potential deterrent effect (in terms if crime prevention) is greater than concealed carry. People looking to commit a crimes should tend to avoid doing so if members of the general public can be observed carrying firearms at a location they intended targeting.
    3) In the event of an incident open carry makes it easier for the first responding LEOs to separate sheep from goats.

    An open carry ID on display to show who is legally entitled to 'carry'- as opposed to someone who can' do so might also be a good idea. It would make someone carrying without one stand out a little more.

    Still neither is going to be banned any time soon so once again - all hypothetical.

    Funny, my state, OHIO, has always allowed open carry without a permit and carrying concealed was an illegal misdemeanor. I have lived here for over a decade and never seen anyone doing open carry until about a year ago with a couple fellows doing walking down a street with a shouldered AR with a friend doing a video with the intention of posting the police response on you tube. The police did check them out, but handled it well.
    Carrying concealed with a permit has been allowed for a decade and enough permits have been given that about 1 in every 10-12 adults has one; no blood ran in the street.
