    Few if any say it's no worse than the common cold but nice straw man attempt. It's not a lot worse than the common flu though and somehow we muddle through with yearly flu outbreaks.

    Excuse me for misrepresenting your position. The fact is, the world seems to think it's a lot worse that the common flu. Did china lock down cities for SARS? Did Japan close down schools for H1N1? Was Iran digging mass graves for swine flu? There's ample evidence to come to the conclusion that this IS MUCH worse than common seasonal flu. I'm not terribly worried for my families health but I am concerned about supply and service disruptions. Most responsible adults are.

    Oh and btw, the fed cut interest rates a half percent. Just like they did for swine flu, right?

    I'm also mostly worried about supply and service disruptions and not really worried about the virus itself. However, I do hope the lower interest rates help ward off the virus.

    The point was that, despite some opinions in this thread, the adults in the room do consider corona a bigger concern than common flu. Hmmm, who to believe...

    Well the real question is WHY is it a bigger concern and why are we concerned about supply disruptions? Could it be due to the media's hysteria and people freaking out? Yes and yes.

    In the 1976 swine flu we also had indurated stagflation and the fed didn't know what to do. It weren't long after that and new mortgages were 16%, that's not a typo. This is a 24 karat golden buying opportunity.

    While true, that is approximately one week more worth of studying than the folks who stopped studying as soon as they heard trump use the word "hoax."

    Or perhaps it is India, the largest manufacturer of generic drugs, has announced the it will be curtailing shipping those generics prescriptions to other countries in order to be ready for their own people's care.

    Enjoy your brand name $300 per pill antibiotics to deal with your own pneumonia and other infections!

    Oh, wait, the $300 per pill brand name drugs are made in China and Italy and others, none of them interested in selling what few drugs they actually manage manufactured with sick people staying home became they want to keep it for themselves!

    Oh, well, never mind! Trump says it's not even as a cold. Go play golf!

    My best guess is that an asymptomatic merchant seaman was allowed off a ship with Chinese calligraphy on it's hull in one of the ports in the Puget Sound area, and spread coronavirus to somebody who was asymptomatic who then spread coronavirus to the Life Care Center nursing home in Kirkland, WA.

    My best guess is that unscrupulous zealots within one federal agency or the other either lost control of security at Detrick, or deliberately turned the virus loose.

    This is not unlike the anthrax event during the Bush administration.
