In Star Trek, when Gene Roddenberry created 'stardate' time, and Kirk would say something like 'stardate 39740.8', this is more interesting to me. Kind of like Julian Date, which might be something like 2,546,943.521795...

If a person is marooned on a deserted island, and they have no knowledge of Earth time, what 'time' can they observe? They can see the difference between night and day to understand this repeats itself, but they would never know when 10:17:39 am on July 23rd comes and goes. Each day that passes they could make a mark on a tree. If an ET landed on the island and asked the person how long they had been marooned, the answer might be '249 marks'. They could make special notes next to certain marks to remember events, like on 'mark 33' they saw a mermaid...but this implies the person has knowledge about how to count...

Black holes are interesting creatures. They exist from the size of an atom (with the mass of a mountain) to super-massive like 1 to 5 million times the mass of our Sun. Some begin from supernovas while some might be left over from the BB. I've read that an object must be very close to a black hole, like miles, in order to be taken by the gravitational forces, so black holes mostly consume stellar gas and dust. They don't really grow much as in consuming a solar system or galaxy...if they did they would eventually consume everything. Yet their gravitational tug is so strong that light cannot escape...like trying to pry a ham sandwich from Oprah's clutch. We can't see them because they are invisible but do emit some energy which can be detected by precision equipment. And they seem to be everywhere...like opossums. Way too much for my noggin to grasp!

Regarding the article, it does make some sense that if a galaxy is quite condensed, which indicates gas, dust and matter are in closer proximity, that a black hole could grow in size consuming a good portion of that galaxy. It would be weird to live on a planet in that galaxy, which is on the edge of the black hole, at night in one direction there would be a huge void where few to no stars are visible.

Lastly, if black holes are everywhere...why do we care about them...

I find it interesting that String Theory postulates that 26 dimensions actually exist, but they are wrapped around, (compacted), the four dimensions we know about.
This suggests a world of energy and matter exists but is invisible to us.

Perhaps the Dark Matter and Dark Energy are related to this idea.

Maybe all the darkness are black holes...gazillions of small and benign black holes, all with mass and energy??

    You are right on this.

Reality unfolds moment by moment, as it creates the image of its own past in the form of Truth.
And the future depends upon the outcome of the Law of probability to the extent that, what happens next is a surprise where "all things are possible."

    Mark 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee;

I remember reading in my youth of The Glass Giant of Palomar the 200-inch Hale Telescope and how it would probably never be bested in size, Only a few years later the Russians built one of 216 inches. Then they invented the computer assisted mirrors that could be yoked together and the laser corrected observatory that overcomes many atmospheric problems, now we have this.

I have heard that radio telescopes can be computer connected so that they can integrate observations from different places and so have a telescope whose "mirror" is the size of the Earth. Indeed, it seems you can do that with observations taken at different times 6 mos apart and so have a telescope in effect as large as the Earth's orbit. Should we ever somehow do that with visible wavelengths what wonders await us

Perhaps one day we will see the Eye of God, staring back.

With all the ignorant crap going on in the world today, primarily the eternal wars and fighting, I'm wondering if we actually received an intelligent extraterrestrial signal, obviously signifying that humans are mere (*)(*)(*)(*)-ants instead of perceived super powers, would mankind pause long enough between reloading their armament to ponder the greater and grander scheme of things to realize there's more to our potential than just killing each other...

There is zero doubt in my mind that life - intelligent life - exists elsewhere...

    I believe aliens come here...

There is way too much evidence to suggest that aliens do indeed visit earth...

IMO, modern scientists ignore this notion because they cant stand to acknowledge the idea that there perhaps could be individuals er aliens that are smarter and way more "progressive" than they are.... I think every academic is a sociopath...

Many like to say that if disclosure was to happen that the religious folks would freak out.... No - it would be the academic community... They would freak out because they would lose their swag knowing that their theories are wrong, not only wrong buy flat - straight up - wrong.... They fear that...

It's great for people to wish that extraterrestrials exist, and the odds of how life formed on Earth seem to be pretty good that life exists elsewhere, but until someone has some proof, it remains 'wishful' thinking.

We see drawings in caves with what appears to be space helmets on people but without some tangible proof it's just someone's imagination. We talk about things flying from space, visitors long ago, but no proof.

When the day comes we receive an intelligent ET signal, or we are visited, this will cause a paradigm shift in thinking and beliefs for everyone on Earth...no one will be spared the awe or speculation, etc. that will unfold...

    No it's not....

How many intellectuals do you actually know?

I come from a large family, and quite a few of my aunts and uncles are "intellectuals" that are professors...

They dismiss anything or any concept or idea they don't agree with regardless of the evidence weather it has to do with science, politics or even random ideas...

They act like just because they teach at universities that they know everything.... They're arrogant clowns...

Of course when they get owned they (literally) scream and stomp their feet like children that were denied cake...

They're not intellectuals, they're just people that couldn't hack it in a hard working society so they chose to stay in school until they were 30, if anything they're (*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid and lazy... I'm way more intelligent than any of my "intellectual" aunts and uncles...

Perhaps I will record a video and post it of me having a debate with an alleged "intellectual" because I will indeed see one on Christmas day...

None of the intellectuals I've known in my lifetime act or have acted like the ones you've described.

    You specifically stated in an earlier post that ;
" I think every academic is a sociopath".
    I think that's a rather bizzare comment.

Because, personal anecdote is always a good substitute for actual proof. (https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/anecdotal)

I'm just wondering where this hatred for intelligence and education comes from?

If it matters 30% of the population are sociopaths - I didn't call them psychopaths I called them sociopaths...

Do you know what the (*)(*)(*)(*) a sociopath is?

Certain professions tend to attract more than others and academics is one of those professions that attracts a lot of (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up self absorbed people...

There is no hatred for intelligence- these people are dumb.... An intelligent person would accept and consider all evidence - these asshats reject any evidence that doesn't fit their theories...

Look, I could have gone to school for 15 (*)(*)(*)(*)ing years and called myself an intellectual by never leaving school by taking a professorship...

What do you think? these fools have privilege to special knowledge?

It's not like they can buy books you can't buy...

They're not oracles, they're arrogant fools...

Me and my cousin saw a UFO er "craft" that's how I really got involved in this subject.. This "flying saucer" emerged from Lake Michigan and then flew about 100 yards from me and my cousin and just sat there for a few minutes... It's almost like they were debating on weather or not to abduct us or something, then the craft just was gone - just like that - gone. This wasn't "swamp gas" or "Venus" this was a metallic disc...

Trust me aliens do indeed exist.... I have been researching this topic for 20 years...

Look go to youtube and lookup "UFO" spend some time watching some videos and read about the topic...

If it matters I could present an alien to a non-believer and they still would reject the concept that aliens do indeed exist..
