The tragedy is that these kind of peple get into power.............and then set themselves up for power for life. Putin is not "normal"...and the scenario you describe is a possibility . He has had too much power for too long now.......and it has corrupted his mind., advanced his paranoia........and made him dangerous .....

He would never quit............as that would be seen by himself (and others)as "weak.........and he has too much invested in being the"strong man" .........aka major sadistic bully. The issue of"pride" factor in too.

Agreed, He is going to be overthrown by a coalition of oligarchs, fairly soon. I think he will be kept alive but only as a figurehead. He is beginning to seriously threaten the lifestyles of men who are themselves multi-billionaires, you don't do that with impunity.

With declining populations, in both Russia and Ukraine, Putin picked the wrong time to invade Ukraine and see many of his own countries young being slaughtered as well as many Ukrainians, he could not have picked a worse time. But then again no one has ever accused him of being a genius, except Dirty Donald???

I don't think he will be overthrown. The only group that can overthrow him is the Duma and Putin would dissolve that long before they get a chance to vote. As for the oligarchs, they owe everything, and I mean that literally, to Putin and Putin probably has the goods on those very same Oligarghs that would cause them to lose money faster than the sanctions are doing.

If one were to assess Putin's moves on the board - it would be moronic to give demographics a large weight - never mind the only criteria .. genius :)

I don't see how the Oligarchs can lose money more quickly than by having great blocks of their assets seized. What "goods" could Putin have on them? Most Russians have known the Oligarchs are corrupt for a long time and seem to have tolerated it up until now.

How is Putin faring among the Army? If the Army feels he is ordering them to their deaths I feel his days are numbered

Tax fraud in various countries, wire fraud, money laundering, and a whole list of financial white collar crimes.

True, though Im not exactly convinced of the claims regarding Putin's wealth. Im sure hes rich, but the $200B claim sounds like propaganda.

Also, theres things in this world that are hard to put a $ value on. For example- top secret 'disruprive' technology kept hidden in corporate or DARPA bunkers. Its common knowledge that we're between 20 and 50 years behind, technologically speaking, between the texhnology that is public knowledge and the technology that actually exists. Free energy, anti gravity, FTL, life extension... any one of those things, if it exists, would be more valuable than all of Mansa Musas, King Solomans and Vladimir Putins treasures combined.

It is not a common occurrence for a dictator to step down unless forced to do so. Off-hand, I cannot think of an example.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.
