Why do you think the amount of money is the prioritization? The bill has the funds needed for the forseeable future to provide that and can be extended late. This isn't about which side can propose the most money it is which side can properly determine what is need now for individuals and for business.

We supply the hygienics industry, paper towels, toilet paper, feminine products, non-wovens for wipes and such and also the food industry ALL kinds of food from meat to bakery the vegetable industry and the packaging industry the boxes need to ship vital items . We have been declared an essential industry in CA and expect other states will do the same, we are in 16 states not including my home office in my state and other salesmen. BUT if we don't have the income coming in to remain operational then we can't supply them and they can't run.

Let the shareholders bail out the large corporations. They took their dividends and inflated stock buybacks. Let them foot the bill for keeping their investment afloat. The can get paid back via dividends at a later date.

Or are we back to the old Republican , “Public losses but private profits.”

Lets see the same permanent tax cut for the middle class that corporations got and relief for Main Street.

So is the Wall Street Journal

    The Pelosi-Schumer Coronavirus Contagion
Democratic leaders kill a rescue bill under pressure from the left

"What a spectacle. Much of America is quarantined at home, the public is so panicked there’s a run on toilet paper, the country desperately wants reassurance, and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer decide to take a bipartisan rescue bill as a political hostage.

That’s the display of Democratic leadership in a crisis the nation received on Monday as Senate Democrats blocked a $1.8 trillion bill that has urgent money for workers, hospitals, small business and, yes, even larger companies threatened by the forcible shutdown of the U.S. economy. When America most needs bipartisan cooperation, Democrats add to the economic uncertainty by putting their partisan interests above the needs of the country........

.....The “crony capitalist slush fundline is false and dangerous. Government created this financial panic. Government told Americans to stay home and essentially ordered U.S. commerce to stop. Without revenue, companies can’t pay the bills. Without access to government loans, companies of every size will be forced to lay off employees by the millions.

The Pelosi bill follows through by including an ideological wish list that has nothing to do with the coronavirus. There’s a Green New Deal mandate on airlines to offset their “carbon emissions” and publish CO2 emissions for each flight. There’s the House’s failed “election reform”—requiring states to allow early voting, mail-in voting, and same-day voter registration.

The Pelosi bill would require any loan recipient to provide permanent paid leave and a $15 minimum wage. Borrowers would not be allowed to pay a bonus to an executive or dividends to shareholders. Companies would have to provide statistics on the “gender, race, and ethnic identity” of their board members. Nothing like a deadly virus to get the country woke.""

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-pelosi-schumer-contagion-11585006077?mod=opinion_lead_pos1

Will the American voter become woke and vote out these political hacks whose only interest is maintaining their own political power?

The Democrats controlled both houses of Congress from Jan 2007 to Jan 2010. That was both before and after the crash, any bailout legislation had to be passed by them.

Don't make me laugh so hard. The Democrats controlled both houses of Congress from Jan 2007 to Jan 2010 when Corporate America paid executives bonuses out of bail out money, the funding for that had to pass the Democrat controlled Congress.

Keep believing that the Democrats are for the American worker.

Well, actually people only need money for food and for their insurance policies. All other debts and bills can be delayed and payment extended into the future. You need cash for food because it is not a credit business. And you need to keep your insurance policies current in case you suffer a loss. Even income and property tax payments can be extended without penalties and interest. If you get behind on the mortgage and car payments just extend the repayment period. Therefore, people could go on food stamps to get food and they could use any cash they get for their insurance payments.

    Next problem.

A quick recovery? It will take a philosophical revolution among the frightened masses. Not likely for 100-150 years.

However, we are individuals, we have free will, we can choose how to build our futures, we can choose liberty over tyranny, reason over faith, life over death, capitalism over statism, and we can choose to create a rebound within 3-5 years. But that would take a lot heroes, not many want to be—heroism requires too much honesty.

    What’s wrong with that?
What if it’s chic-Fil-A that wants a loan?
How long would it take for you to get wee-wee’d up about their Christian beliefs and taxpayer funded loans?

I was referring to the economy. It will not take 3-5 years if we open it back up and take steps to help people now.

It is the “taking of steps” that will prolong this living death. We are looking at a 5 years plus of negative to low growth, high unemployment, negative interest rates, slowing innovation, and a significant lower standard of living and quality of life. This will be the Great Depression II. The first one took 16 years to recover; I fear this one will take 20-25 years, if ever.

Locking up the living to save the sick and dying will not bring us salvation, but it may very will give birth to generations of stagnation.

    To save this economy:
    1) Start testing massively
    2) End the lock down
    3) End all tariffs
    4) End government involvement in the economy
    5) Institute an eternal ban on any new social program
    6) Think and go to work

Follow these suggestions and we will have a cure for all viruses, as well as any other diseases, our standard of living will reach heights never seen before, and we live life as rational beings. Anything less, we are fkd.

We have GOT to kick the Republicans out of control of the Senate and this idiot McConnell as Leader.

He's a laughing stock and cares more about his political power than the country.

StarJet's suggestions in #194 above is the surest way to wreck the American economy.

This is going to bite her just like the peepee tape investigation and the impeachment did. When she added extra non virus related garbage onto it she gave McConnell the ammo to stick it up her arse, even if she gets what she wants. The old gal is getting senile or maybe blinded by her hate but she is making some really bad decisions.

Just because he makes the Democrats look inept doesn’t mean we have to get rid of him.

Enough older, white, less-educated American workers, disenchanted with the Democratic Party's perceived neglect of the common man, abandoned their traditional party affiliation for Trump in 2016. Following Trump's tax cut for the corporate elite*, the exposure of his fake promise to revive coal mining and the steel industry, and given the economic collapse under Trumpery, after 10+ years of economic growth, many are reassessing their choice.

His campaign lie that he would "immediately" repeal 'ObamaCare' and replace it with "something terrific!" that "covers everybody!" at "less cost!" is hitting the working man and woman especially hard, as millions have lost coverage under Trumpery, especially devastating amidst his economic collapse. (See How Many Americans Are Uninsured)

(*The richest 1 percent received 9.3% of the Trump tax cuts, the top 5% got 26.5 percent, the top quintile received 52.2% and the bottom quintile got 3.3 percent.)

To be sure, there are those whose groveling emotional obeisance to the reality-tv entertainer compels them to run and hide from the empirical data, but for others, the unadulterated data and reason prevail.
