Whether irreversible circumcision should be performed on a little baby who cannot give his consent is a controversial issue.
I wonder if opinions on circumcision have anything to do with gender, or whether the male has been circumcised.

The poll question is asking whether circumcision should be done on male babies. This poll is NOT about whether the government should ban circumcision. In other words, a "no" vote just means that you are telling parents it is wrong for them to decide to have their child circumcised without his consent. You can be satisfied that you were circumcised, but still believe it is wrong for parents to be performing it on other babies who may grow up to be dissatisfied that it was done to them.

If you should be allowed to cut your son's foreskin off you should be able to tattoo whatever you like on there. This is clearly absurd. Parents are custodians of their children, not rulers.

I was circumcised for medical reasons after birth. This is fine.

Haha, I like how you took out the gender options for circumcised people, implying that we're not real men. ;)

I'm an uncircumsized male. I consider forced circumcision a form of torture that ought to be illegal.

Since we're on this topic, lets add in gender equality.

Yes, I find it intersting how the feminists on this forum, who demand gender equality, suddenly sing a different tune when it comes to male circumcision. It's almost like they take some sort of saddistic delight in those evil males being denied a part of their genitalia, yet when you suggest the idea of cutting out the labia minora in little female babies, they scream bloody murder.

circumcision falls under the category of cosmetic surgery and should be illegal to charge any insurance company for it. what's more, it should only be acceptably done at the age of 18 years(16yo with parental consent and a written essay of at least 5 pages by the dipsht getting his dick chopped) as should all cosmetic surgery that doesn't fall into the category of reconstructive.

any person's who have preformed a circumcision should be forced to provide any and all persons whom they've preformed this procedure on a yearly update of their address so that they can be shot and killed more easily.

While I vehemently oppose abortions on babies, I disagree with that. I think a 6 or 7 year old can make the decision for themselves if they are informed of the full implications (both for and against), presuming they are not being pressured by their parent. I just think it is important that they be shown exactly what will be taken off, and have the foreskin's role in sexual function explained to them, and reminded that they will never be able to get their foreskin back.

Because a 6 or 7 year old is fully understanding of what sexual function is? No matter how bright they are or how well you explain something, if they have no parallel to draw on, you're wasting your breath.

I think most 6 or 7 year olds would object to having part of their penis cut off. Especially if the ones with "medical problems" were told the truth, that there are other treatment options besides circumcision.

Mate - if you had had to stick a catheter in a homeless guy who was uncircumcised you might just change your mind

I think pretty much anybody, other than those who have ED that want less sensitivity, would object.

I am a bit sexist on this one, I think male circumcision is ok, but female circumcision is wrong

so did the "feast of the Circumcision" coming up the first of January get you thinking of this?

Uncircumcised, and I believe it is wrong.

If he wants to be circumcised later in life, awesome. But there is no justification in doing it to an infant.

shiet, I picked the wrong one. I'm not circumcised and I picked that it's okay, but it's wrong. It's just another of those small bits of bad culture that's still around, it does more harm than good. get rid of it.

Yes. or are you suggesting mandatory removal of the foreskin for that reason?

No, but is has been mooted as a cheap and effective method of slowing transmission of AIDS in third world countries

And if you have EVER had to deal with what is under some foreskins then you would be more in favour of circumcision Yeeerch! Try having to catheterise some men honestly a vomit bowl needs to be on standby

I wouldn't consider male circumcision wrong, but I'm not a defender of the practice either.

If a ban was up for a vote, I'd vote against it.

However, if it passed, I wouldn't particularly care either.

The only thing that annoys me is when people try to analogize it with female circumcision. There's a good reason why that's seen as much worse.

as long as the person in question can give his consent to the operation. babies cant really, hence the problem. later in life though, why not.

That's gotta be the worst argument in favor of circumcision I have ever heard.

    Well done!
