The homeownership rate for households that fall below median income was less than 50 percent in 2014, for those who made above the median it was nearly 80 percent. And the gap in homeownership between whites, and blacks and Hispanics is almost as large.

Are you being serious? You're quoting a comment about international differences in home ownership rates. Of course richer people are more likely to be home owners. Get someone to pat you on the head!

It is irrelevant to my comment, obviously. You'll be saying rich people can buy what they want next!

I refer to political economy. You grunt. Is grunt in your American English dictionary? Does it say "right winger that says ignorant things and pretends otherwise"?

    1) there was no market failure to reduce since market was socialist to begin with
    2) Obamacare is perfect example of state capitalism fascism, crony capitalism, or socialism.

    you must learn your definitions!!

To suggest the US system is socialist is ignorant to the extreme.

Compared to other health systems, Obamacare achieved relatively little. Conservatism again!

You and your mates called it socialist? I'm more than happy for you to dodge. Refer me to one source that refers to the US system as socialist.

another basic history lesson for you: in the old world the difference between a communist Nazi fascist and socialist is significant. you think for example being in market socialist is the height of intellectual cool and nuance while we think of it as goofy statist pedantic gibberish. The New World left all of the old world’s very very liberal statist ideologies behind. We are about freedom from the old world and its stupid stupid very deadly statist ideologies. We are for freedom from your ideologies. Please print and post on your refrigerator For daily review.

You seem to think that intellectualism can be replaced with ideological rant. Sorry, no dice

If one makes more good decisions in their life than bad, providing a modest middle class standard is very achievable. Decisions made by the young or at a very young age can hinder making a modest middle class standard or even make it impossible. But I think it all boils down to decisions. Even decisions made that one hasn't any idea of the repercussions of that decision. Such as dropping out of school, not studying hard, doing drugs, getting pregnant, etc.

Given the power of your government (and its aggressive use of foreign policy), I love your innocence! Its just a real shame that you combine it with such ignorance of political economy.

Interestingly though it can make financial sense for wealthy people to rent their homes, because the hassle of homeownership isn't worth their extremely valuable time. They can also often get a higher rate of return putting their money somewhere else (usually the source of their wealth in the first place, whatever that may be). Another unexpected thing is that you can actually get a better value (rent relative to property cost) on renting expensive properties because it's harder for the owners to find a renter.

Owning a home may usually be less expensive than renting in the long-term, but keeping up a home can also be a money pit. If the home is going to end up requiring several costly repairs and expensive maintenance, it could have been cheaper to rent. It also depends on the job too. Some people have to move around a lot or relocate to different regions frequently. For them, home buying may not make sense. I've heard horror stories about people who had to relocate to another part of the country and rented their house out to tenants who destroyed it.

I only look down on persons who continually make poor decisions, ignoring good advice, and then blame others for their situation demanding government hold others responsible for improving their situation.

You miss out any reference to class effects, despite the nature of the thread. Home ownership, at least in countries with rampant neoliberalism, becomes a key mechanism to accentuate wealth divides. As house prices rise (often through artificial mechanisms, such as London speculative inward investment), a minority celebrate returns which are denied the current cohort. It's used to inflame the negative aspect of class and the associated inequality of opportunity.
