The tone was set at the beginning with Adam Schiff's recitation of a timeline of the facts in evidence, followed by the somber observation it is the facts that should guide the hearings.

He yielded to Devin Nunes who tap danced his way around the facts while sprinkling in some conspiratorial nonsense with some ineffectual bombast.

I'm not sure which box Trumpette's will put the public testimony in. The "I don't care" box. The "it's not bad enough to be impeachable" box. The "Trump isn't being treated fairly" box. The "none of this is really happening" box. Which ever box it goes in one thing is certain. The facts aren't going to get in the way of their continued support for Dear Leader.

Trumpers have decided they look especially stupid when they try to say that Trump didn't do this, so now they're coming at it from a "so what, it's not illegal and not an impeachable offense" angle.

If you can't claim the act didn't happen, claim the act didn't matter.

That's a great quote. Don would be selling T-shirts with that on it if it weren't so truthful.

Yeah, let's see. Opinion of second and third hand information. No quid pro quo. No statement by Ukraine, and they got the funding.

As someone who didn't vote for Trump, I'm still looking for an impeachable act.

In today's public hearing Taylor’s testimony was consistent with what he told the panel previously, an account that included vivid details of how he discovered that Mr. Trump was conditioning “everything” about the United States relationship with Ukraine — including needed military aid and a White House meeting for Ukraine’s president — on the country’s willingness to commit publicly to investigations of his political rivals. His testimony made it clear that the Ukrainians were well aware of the prerequisite at the time.

The top Republican on the Intelligence panel accused the witnesses of working against Trump, casting previous testimony by diplomats and national security officials about the President’s actions toward Ukraine as nothing more than unfounded, second- or third-hand allegations from members of a “politicized bureaucracy.”

In other words, Republicans are saying there is no chain of command in the Trump government, someone other than the President controls foreign relations in the White House, and the only viable witnesses are those in direct contact with Trump.

And Trump is forbidding those witnesses like Mulvaney and Bolton to testify. That is Obstruction of Congress, a federal offense.

In other words, Republicans are arguing that Trump should be allowed to benefit from committing a felony.

Taylor heard it from a staffer who wasn't in on the call and who doesn't have a high end security clearance.

This is getting more melodramatic by the second... Worse than a nothing burger.

And even second a third hand all he has is a disagreement concerning policy and not much of that.

    Schiff sums it up nicely.

Earlier this year Volodymyr Zelensky was elected president of Ukraine on a platform of ending the conflict and tackling corruption. He was a newcomer to politics and immediately sought to establish a relationship with Ukraine’s most powerful patron, the United States. The questions presented by this impeachment inquiry are whether President Trump sought to exploit that ally’s vulnerability and invite Ukraine’s interference in our elections? Whether President Trump sought to condition official acts, such as a White House meeting or U.S. military assistance, on Ukraine’s willingness to assist with two political investigations that would help his reelection campaign? And if President Trump did either, whether such an abuse of his power is compatible with the office of the presidency?

Lots of boring nonsensical talk on TV. The proof of the pudding will be when Trump is re-elected.

Isn't it disingenuous for Repubs to complain about a lack of first hand witnesses to Trump communications when Trump is preventing those witnesses from testifying?

The two "witnesses" today were lost. What an embarrassment to the dems. It will be interesting to see how the MSM spins the hearing.
