Republicans loudly claim to be Republicans, though they´re not, while Democrats deny they are Democrats, though they are.

There no progressive socialists. Socialism hasn´t been progressive since the Third International

yeah, I want the big banks and huge tech broken up also. Facebook/twitter/Instagram have too much power to stifle opposition views. Even Trump realizes this as they have left wing leanings as present. to me it is like having Msnbc as your gate keeper of what is presented.

And if you don't think Slavery is a crime you probably don't think the holocaust was one either. That is one of the most ridiculous things posted here. Now I don't think reparations is the answer either. But to think that owning a human being is not a crime because it was not codified as a crime is abhorrent. Regardless Blacks were kidnapped from Africa, you can not benefit from a crime even in georgia in 1780 if you want to be "technical" You can't purchase good that you know were acquired illegally.

MSNBC is a gatekeeper for many shall we break them up to. What about the right to free assembly which is what a big corporation is people assembled for a common purpose. And you don't have to use social media.

Slavery was not a crime when it was legal in the United States which was even the case after the Civil War ended. So again
Force people who committed no crime to "compensate" people who were not victims of a crime.

Solving simple poverty should be more of an issue due to the downward pressure on wages that result by not correcting for capitalism's natural rate of unemployment with the socialism necessary to correct for that capital inefficiency.

The Poor should not have to care how the Richest make their money if we solve simple poverty in a market friendly manner in our Republic.

What's the difference between simple poverty and not simple poverty? How about JOBS as a solution to poverty? Government social programs certainly do not solve it.

Capitalism has a natural rate of unemployment. We should be using socialism to solve for actual economic phenomena not just make up "social solutions" that have nothing to do with economics.

Why would you want to go to a socialist system because of the <4% natural rate which is merely people changing jobs? Where has socialism produced 0% unemployment?

the problem is/was a lack of market based metrics to make better capital decisions.

otherwise, Government should be establishing Pareto Optimal public policies.

Acquiring an asset that was acquired as a result of a criminal act is a crime. Just because they chose not to prosecute it as such does not make it not a crime. If you knowingly brought any property that was not acquired legally you can be charged with a crime. Every single 1st generation slave was acquired as such.

Now MSNBC does not have a majority of the news market, they have less than 10% at most of theTV market. If they had as much of the market as facebook has of the social media market, then yes I would break them up, but that is such a hypothetical as our FCC regulations already forbid such a monopoly.

Slavery was not a crime in the 1600's through 1800's.......ex post facto.
MSNBC is one of the top three cable news outlets.

Then more free markets where the people best suited to make those capital decisions can do so, the owners of that capital.

Government merely should fix Standards within which capitalism can "float".

one of the top three of how many news outlets? a thousand?

And regardless of whether an injustice is codified as a law does not mean that a wrong was not done and redress not sought. There are many things that are wrong to the majority of people in the world but not codified as law. Again, the nazis allowed the holocaust to happen, they had no law against killing Jews in this manner. I don't believe in reparations for slavery, but I will not agree with the premise that just because something is not illegal dos not make it a act worth redress.

MSNBC is one of the top three cable news outlets. Maddow often tops the ratings.

Oh GEEZ the NAZI card????? The NAZI's were prosecuted for War CRIMES. Again Ex Post Facto. Slavery was LEGAL when it occurred. And America, the United States did not establish slavery here the Europeans with the aid of the Africans did.

how does that constitute a monopoly on MSNBC part? Compared to Facebook's 99%? I don't care if Facebook is the#1 social media network, bless them and congratulations to them. I just don't think that one group should have that much say on what gets published on social media as news and what does not. having Facebook broken into multiple competing entities would best service our desire to have all political thought brought to the people.

If I get info from MSNBC (heaven forbid) and can always go to Fox or PBS or BBC America to view how they see it.

These massive companies donate millions of dollars to the DNC, and have so that they created policies ensuring they made massive profits, and keep start ups from developing, it will be interesting to see if they continue

No one is stopping the market from solving poverty. You consider the $7.00 minimum wage an obstacle to a free markets desire to help people overcome poverty. And the poor certainly have a stake in how the rich make their money. Poor people are just as much citizens as rich people. In the 1900s we had market driven economy practically a lezzaifaire market, how did the market friendly economy help them from from starving and living 20 to a tenement with most adults being alcoholics. We allowed the wealth creators to actually even own the labor force.

The capitalist system is the best system to make the most wealth. But they are variances in the market where some years much more wealth is created than other years and there is no incentive for a market to "care" for anyone but its own active employees. As a social progressive I believe government has the bigger responsibility to its citizens not to the owners of wealth creating enterprise.

I don't care if monopolies are efficient if the greater good for our country is not met. The internet holds such great promise to spread information. I don't want the net to go the way of independent newspapers, magazines and TV stations.
