I never had loans because I paid for it as I went. I graduated college debt free. I used my GI bill and other military benefits. Of course, I put in my share of 80 hour work weeks with no overtime.

Liz Warren and these "Free College" thieves really hate the Blue Collar class, who they will force to subsidize higher earning college graduates.

LOL! Who are you kidding? Warren panders to the wealthy. She just pretends to pander to the poor.

The loans don't cause the problem. Their terrible choice of courses does. The kid who borrows twice as much to do a very expensive medical degree, will have no problem paying it back.

    1000% !!!!!

NO Arts/Humanities should be funded. If you want to do those luxury courses, you need to pay for it yourself. Just like all other luxuries.

There's the elitist sneering (my bold). That which drives kids who can ill afford to, to take degrees in something 'special'.

Taking such a degree on borrowed money should eliminate you from college on IQ grounds.

I'm willing to have the quid pro quo conversation on tax payer funded college / post grad for equivalent years of military service (beyond the GI Bill). We the tax payers, footing the bill, must get something upfront though (enlistment / commission). One immutable truth is that 'nothing is free in this world'.

Hmmm. How about actually waging the war on drugs? Tell Mexico we are coming in find drug manufacturers and kill them like they kill us. The only reason the war on drugs failed is because we never fought it.
The cartels should be too afraid on the USAF to manufacture their crap.

Government loans for higher education should only be for students pursuing degrees that our industries need.

Actually how about this, industries get huge tax breaks for giving low interest loans and or scholarships for students going for degrees in fields that support their industries. Student bails on that degree he or she is on the hook forvthe bill.

Well, the one good thing Warren’s proposal has achieved is getting a conversion going about what is a real problem rather than Trump’s latest tirade or whether Hillary hates Christians.

She's right about one thing; Student loan debt is keeping young people from buying homes.

They can practice deferred gratification and pay off their student loans.

Warren is a fraud, a fake little rich woman who lied about being an Indian. She should be impeached by everyone who serves in our gov't. Nothing she says should be taken seriously because she got close to $400K a year at Harvard to teach 1 course all based on her lies.

College could be more affordable if students went to 2 year community colleges to get their prep work out of the way, then transferred to bigger schools to finish their studies. That would cut their expenses in half. But colleges themselves way over charge. Tuition costs should be 1/2 to a 1/3 of what they presently are. Especially Big 10 schools like UW Madison that gets an insane amount of money just from their football contracts.

Other options are out there but if a student racks up a huge bill going to college, that is not on the taxpayers to bail them out. Education needs to revamped. Too bad we such useless tools in Congress. So much needs to be done and they just sit there and point fingers.

The military already has a student loan repayment enlistment option.

There! I just solved the student loan crisis!

Well there are some problems with this. At least 1/3 of the youth today are too fat for military service.

So they get in shape, drop a few pounds, and get their loans repayed. I'd call that a win/win.

Or...they can just be fat and in debt.

I had no choice but to take a student loan. When I was 19 I was rejected for military service due to a vertebrae fracture racing motorcycles. Plus I was 43 when I went back to College and had a home and a mortgage to pay.

Well even if you went to a non-state school, you got taxpayer (or federal debt) asst. But Liz is crazier than those native americans who sold Manhattan for wampum.

    We currently have one.

Why can't we have the other by sacrificing the one?

We currently have one, excessive military spending.

Why can't we have the other by sacrificing that one?
