WTF are you babbling about? How do you interpret my comment as me realizing how far behind the United States is economically? Since your country has yet to make it to the moon, you aren't even at where we were in the 60s and therefore are in no position to mock the United States. So far it is the only nation to successfully walk on another celestial body other than Earth. Enjoy our videos of the surface of the moon and take solace in the fact we don't charge you to see what the surface of the moon looks like.
Ohhh sorry we don't have enough money to colonize another planet for you guys yet. We'll work on that while you guys try and conquer toothpaste.

ahhh i see …so you forget that when you went to the moon you were not looking for a handout from other nations to do so…like i said your now bumming rides from russia to get in space….and pssst it's all about economics

actually I wasn't mocking . Just pointing out that like many people realize you are heading to be a back seat driver in things to come…And not my wish at all, If you read everything i have ever posted here than you can judge me and get personal…

And i'm against that how exactly…this emotional posting is boring...
    wow.
    .

and if you don;t heed the call from the likes of Donald Trump you never will.Hey don;t shoot the messenger here, like i said read all my posts and see i am not anti american...

it's not really a contest, but if you are looking for ribbons and need that sort of thing here ya go…

That's right, the first person to get to Mars and hoist a flag gets the planet. It will probably be China. But it could be a corporation.

The first group to establish an independent of Earth, self-sustainable space presence pretty much owns the future of the Solar System.

Still, there should be enough asteroids to share mining rights among the nations. On a first-come first-serve basis that is...

yeah you sound like a real fan that's why you trashed America when the topic wasn't even directed towards any nation. You sound exactly like every Canadian I've ever run into. Been there three times. Been insulted three times out of the blue for no reason. Exactly like you just did. Must be something in the water there. Bitter angry jealous dudes there. Nah the United States hasn't paid there dues. This coming from a guy who lives in a country who lives under Americas protective umbrella without paying for it.

Maybe a private Corporation could start selling Mars shares to fund the mission.

At the cost of sounding like i am having to explain that which isn;t there…

the thread is about owning planets.
    what goes into that?
    hmmmmm.

i don;t ever trash america…and refuse to address that which isn;t there.

my only wish like i stated in this thread is that our way of life continues.

A prosperous america is a prosperous Canada …

have fun with your seeing that which i did not do..it gives me pleasure to allow people to reveal in what ever manner they need to…

As it all looks right now, I see this speculation as half daydreaming, and half of seriously beginning to think of emigrating from earth.
First, I doubt that moving people to mars can even be done, except by the combined effort of several nations. Even building the craft would be a multi-national endeavor.
Imagine that it all begins with an expansion of the ISS. We begin tracking all satellites and other artificial space debris, and develop crews that recover this stuff before it falls back to earth. It all gets corralled into a kind of orbiting junk yard. Any and all of that stuff could be used in building the craft. Anyone who launches anything into space would have to agree to include some component of the mars mission craft, so the expense of moving all of the needed junk would be borne by everyone who has an interest in space. That works as a kind of "tax" to help in funding the whole thing.
I don't think it could be funded in any other way; not by any single corporation or government, as the final cost would be literally, astronomical.
With the current situation here on earth, I think that a realistic departure date would be very near the end of this century.

well this might seem like the only viable solution to get started so to speak.
but once there not unlike europe discovering the new world , africa and other areas of uncharted earth….what then eh…

    war over ownership of course…
it's ugly but it is the way of every nation …

why would mass wealth and endless resources change everything…

it's a corporate world…they are going to lie down and allow china to call the shots…
    i think China will win...

No, no, no! Do you not understand that Americans invented everything, were the first in everything and are the best at everything? Don't you dare say otherwise; fragile egos are at stake here...
I daresay there's even some proud that they have the biggest debt in history!

Oh, poor you. If you had behaved like many of the Americans we encounter here as tourists-loud, boorish and demanding-I wouldn't react too kindly either, frankly.

Yeah poor me, I went into a restaurant to get breakfast and after waiting a certain period of time I had the audacity to ask for menus, the waiter smugly says loud enough for his fellow waiters to get a chuckle "we already ordered your breakfast" I said "what?" He said "typical Americans, we ordered your typical American breakfast, Bacon Eggs toast and coffee."
Wow will he never ever forget me. I put that POS in his place in front of 60 people. Then demanded his boss dress him down in front of the rest of the staff. After I was done with him, his once smug humor that got a chuckle out of his fellow staffers quickly went to his voice shaking and his hands trembling.
So not poor me, its poor you, if you feel the need to insult people from another country that are trying to put money in your pockets and that keep you safe at night so be it. It just proves the difference in integrity between us.

    i don;t think you get anything ..i mean wow…lol…

you can't talk about owning anything without discussing the economics…

America was the wealthiest country in the world…never needed a handout or a bail out or a loan..

since Bush ..all of the above are now reality…
there was a time but thats gone…

sorry if it hurts…it also hurts me…

A recap of reality for the other readers:
In response to who should have claim to a hypothetical colonized Mars, I said:
"No country will have enough dough to colonize it on their own. So whoever pays for it and gets there first should own whatever land they can claim."
to which you went off on your f'ing nutty crazy anti America insult rant towards me and said the following:
"so an american now realizes how far behind they are economically…at one time America was the biggest badd ass wealthiest country in the universe…now it's own people realizes what it really is economically…

on the verge of bankruptcy …Kaputski!!!!

    Ask trump aboud id "

    Edit/Unnecessary comment

I know a Canadian hurling insults towards the U.S., its unheard of. LOL
P.S. Jealousy is no way to live your lives up there. Give it up. I understand there is nothing you can do about it except insult but its just....well....kinda sad.

the thread is interesting to me.
the concept of planting flags and owning the land , this is how Europe won their land rights.

there is a piece of ice between Greenland and Canada…the Danes take down a canadian flag and plant theirs and then Canada takes theirs and plants a Canadian one…it's been going on for years..

Russia planted russian flags in Canadian waters on the bottom of the arctic ocean…

this is all some sort of play on diplomacy…

but if and when the arctic becomes the new Florida coast of the north due to climate change…..wowza...

In todays endeavours it's all about who has the biggest army and power.

it's expensive to employ your army…

Mars and other planets are going to be the next huge land grab.

China has all the money these days…it's not some sort of anti american thing to point this out…. her army is well equipped and this week they launched their first drone…

do they have all of the united states secrets. China has hacked Canada's government files ….

So thinking about the future…it will be expensive and dangerous once minerals are found on these planets…after all the most valuable minerals are formed from dieting stars and fall everywhere...

INDIA LAUNCHES MISSION TO MARS TODAY !
If there is nothing on Mars but a bunch of rocks why are these other Nations including the U.S. busting their buts and budgets to get there ?! There going because
the pictures the Curiosity Rover has been sending back have proved beyond any shadow of a doubt the existence of a humanoid civilization on Mars. But, NASA refuses to acknowledge what their evidence shows ? Instead there's very strong evidence they are manipulating the images to cover up even more conclusive evidence. The last video listed, shows a former NASA EMPLOYEE TESTIFYING to being a witness TO NASA's protocol of PHOTO MANIPULATION How do you explain NASA'S reluctance to admit to reality. It’s because they’re still bound by the BROOKING'S REPORT included at the end of this Post.

People look up all Curiosity And Mars Anomalies on YouTube . Very credible and undeniable evidence of life on Mars Being covered up by NASA. You don't really think we're spending billions of dollars and about to spend billions more on ANOTHER ROVER that's going to be EQUIPPED TO SAMPLE " DNA ", just to look at a bunch of rocks do you !

Here’s a few videos to prove my point.

Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs, often referred to as "the Brookings Report," was a 1960 report commissioned by NASA and created by the Brookings Institution in collaboration with NASA's Committee on Long-Range Studies. It was submitted to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics of the United States House of Representatives in the 87th United States Congress on April 18, 1961.[1] It was entered into the Congressional Record and can be found in any library possessing the Congressional Record for that year.
The report has become noted for one short section titled, "The implications of a discovery of extraterrestrial life," which examines the potential implications of such a discovery on public attitudes and values. The section briefly considers possible public reactions to some possible scenarios for the discovery of extraterrestrial life, stressing a need for further research in this area. It recommends continuing studies to determine the likely social impact of such a discovery and its effects on public attitudes, including study of the question of how leadership should handle information about such a discovery and under what circumstances leaders might or might not find it advisable to withhold such information from the public.
While not specifically recommending a cover-up of evidence of extraterrestrial life, Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs does suggest that contact with intelligent extraterrestrial life (or strong evidence of its reality) could have a disruptive effect on human societies. Moreover, it does mention the possibility that leadership might wish to withhold evidence of extraterrestrial life from the public under some conditions.[4]
