If you have any common sense whatsoever, I would encourage you to use it in deciding whether you've seen 1) a Nazi helmet on Mars or 2) a funny shaped rock on Mars that bears a superficial resemblance, at least from the angle in the photograph in question, to a Nazi helmet.

Uh, yeah, very much superficial. You see a somewhat round rock with a flat-looking edge. It's even colored the same as the other rocks.

And of course it helps that the image isn't terribly high in quality. The rock in question is just blurry enough that the details of its surface contours and overall shape you would need to see that it is definitely not a helmet are missing. That lack of clarity is essential for pareidolia to work. Your mind then fills in the blanks according to its chosen pattern of interpretation.

Funny thing - you don't even know the scale of the thing. It may be considerably larger or smaller than a helmet. I'm going to guess it's larger.

There going because the pictures the Curiosity Rover has been sending back have proved beyond any shadow of a doubt the existence of a humanoid civilization on Mars.
