Very interesting indeed. What say you? http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/series/remembering-9-11/6683/Videos/10915_00
I am looking forward to watching it. I think Bush did many things wrong that day, and many things right. if one good thing came out of that hopefully a better plan will be in place if it should ever happen again. Certainly the communication drop between the president and Washington was disturbing.
Well in defense of Bush's Administration and 9/11, I think for what transpired that day it was for the most part well handled or at least better then could be expected under such circumstances. I think the idea we can plan for such events and not have mistakes is rather obtuse to say the least.
What did he do "wrong" that day? I mean at least without second guessing him, what do you think was handled "wrong"?
Like I said, he did some things wrong and some things right. Certainly it is easy to criticize in retrospect, as I am doing, but the inability of the president to communicate with everyone he needed to was a huge error, not necessarily his fault.
We are all second guessing him. In my opinion, he should have hunkered down in a secure area rather than flying around for hours. He should have mobilized immediately rather than pausing. Maybe his fault, maybe the fault of the secret service.
It will be great to see our president that truly loved his country, and one that was visibly heartbroken for America on that day. I am so glad he was our president on that extremelly painful day. Thank you George W. Bush!
Well lets face it, the media today will do everything in their power to diminish what transpired those days and will attempt to vilify Bush and all in his Administration. Yet I'm sure history and the people will remember Bush of 9/11 and that is obviously really ticking off the left leaning d-baggers to no end! The iconic picture and story of Bush, one needs to look no further them him standing on the rubble with a bullhorn in his hand holding reaching out to the workers there doing what they could to save whom they could with no regard for themselves.
You've got that right...the worst one I hear from the left, is the one about bush not taking it seriously and continuing to read to the children in the classroom. As if the right thing to do would have been, running out of the room screaming...what he did that day, showed to be that he had a calmness...yet, a don't (*)(*)(*)(*) with America attitude all rolled into on. I admired him on that day and the days that followed. The left will do absolutely anything to Diminish the resolve he showed and how he so clearly kept America together in those horrible days. I don't like everything he did during his presidency, but everyone who is an American should give this man the admiration he deserves when it comes to how he handled an attack on America...one like we have never experienced, and hopefully never will again.
I I figured out who was callin the shots that day. News: "We are unaware where the Vice President is at this time, BUT THE PRESIDENT IS OVER GEORGIA!!!!"
What Bush did wrong was firstly refuse to have an investigation, then insist that he gets to appoint the investigators and chose Iran-Contra whitewasher, Lee Hamilton. Another thing he did wrong was try and pin 9/11 on Iraq and claim that they were harboring terrorists.
At first I thought Bush did a pretty good job with 911, but over the years have had my doubts as to why it happened and who was involved. Many may not agree with me, but that is just my opinion.
Story's not bogus. I've seen the videos with those words coming right out of Bush's mouth. General Wesley Clarke said that he was told (by the White House) immediately after 9/11 that they were to try and pin it on Iraq. Sorry, someone asked what Bush did wrong. Never let a good crisis go to waste, right Rahm?
Blah blah blah, blah blah blah -Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE2SdF1fN4s&feature=related"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE2SdF1fN4s&feature=related[/ame]
You've seen the words..."we are going into Iraq because Saddam is responsible for 9/11" come right out of bush's mouth, really? Well, there must be a video...can't seem to find it. Do you have it in your arsenal to share with the rest of us? Thanks.
I think it was the Secret Service that was slowing him down that day. We were under attack, and nobody knew if the President was a target or not. So they stayed aloft and mobile instead of in one place where an attack on him would have been easier. Remember, a plane hit the Pentagon, and another one was en route to maybe the White House or maybe the Capitol building. No one will ever know for sure which one because the passengers took that plane out themselves.
The normal plan IS to get him in the air, and don't forget they went to Barksdale AFB in Shreveport which is a very secure area. We keep our nukes there. The secret service controls his movements and tells him when and what direction when THEY have his route cleared and secured. One of the fallacies of the left claiming he should have jumped up and run out of the school and into his car and on the plane. He moves when the SS says it is time and go this way. So again what did HE do wrong that day?
Are you really so unaware of what we did find in Iraq, what Saddam was up to and that ties between his reqiem and terrorist groups did exist and Saddam's desire was to further those ties and use them to attack western states? What changed between President Clinton and Congress making it our official policy to remove Saddam and his government and Bush getting elected and carrying out that policy?
There were no ties between Saddam and terrorist groups. He hated and feared them, as he saw them as a threat. Putting aside his dispicable actions towards differing groups in his country, he was a ME progressive with women having rights etc... The people the US is fighting aren't really on board with the whole womens rights vibe and in fact Saddam should have been used as as an ally (we know the other human rights abusing nations who are allied to the US, they keep on side by their continued sale of their oil in USD, and Saddam did not).
So what? Qadaffi actually complied with Bush and UN demands to expose his operation, complied with all demands and inspections, and actually tamped down on terror within his borders. He couldn't control the guys who went to Iraq but that was good for him and us, as we just take out a few more of the world's radical jihadists. Why did we bomb Qadaffi from defending himself from what by all appearances is starting to look like a Jihadist instigated insurgency.. but every suggests Saddam was a friend to the world who America illegitimately deposed despite the most horrible nerve agents being dumped on the Kurds? Northern Iraq is experiencing a cultural and economic rebirth directly because of US intervention. If Qadaffi was a legitimate target for deposition by the world, then so was Saddam Hussein and IMO the deposition of Q legitimizes "The Bush Doctrine" if not practiced unilaterally then practiced through the auspices of the UN multi-laterally, but practiced none the less.
When I figure out what Gaddaffi has to do with this thread I'll respond - give me a couple of years to get back to you. Orrrrr, stop derailing the thread.
