Glacys Kravitz is right... That is a concise description of the NW function.. They aren't pretend police officers or profilers or investigators..

NW has been successful all over the country for over 40 years... so most of the volunteers get it and abide by the protocols... They don't create a million dollar liability for the Homeowners Association.

As far as the Retreat at Twin Lakes... there were no block captains.. George was a one man show with his own "protocols".

You present a "false dilemma fallacy" in your argument because it is not necessary for Zimmerman to have a choice between following a white teenager or a black teenager that evening. He didn't have to make a choice to exhibit racial prejudice when he followed Martin. Of note there is no record of Zimmerman ever following a white teenager in the neighborhood.

I don't need to "blame whitey" because historical studies provide that indictment based upon statistical evidence of anti-black racial prejudice in the United States.

SO WHAT???? He didn't violate the law nor any protocols, he was NOT trying to apprehend a suspicious person. His actions were completely reasonable considering the request made to him. It add no fault, no culpability to Martin's ultimate demise.

He wasn't giving chase he was trying to maintain a vantage point, keep an eye on him as requested. If you are trying to claim he was chasing him then give me your evidence that Zimmerman was trying to apprehend him.

Again there is no blame here.

You act as if he was on some official duty here. He was NOT. He was going to the store, he had every right to have his licensed fire arm with him and to be alone in doing so. And again pursuit implies capture, he was NOT attempting to capture Martin just maintain a view of him and comply with the request that had been made of him.

No as in SO WHAT to the specious point you are trying to maintain.

I did when I quoted you before I responded.

So you are denying Zimmerman was acting in the capacity of a "watch captain" for Neighborhood Watch? Are you asserting he lied in court?

So you admit your claim he was acting in some "official capacity", his statement was he was on his way to the store. There is no patrol, or official times or duty. As watch captain he merely organizes meetings and solicits volunteers and had distributes information. You do NOT give up your right to carry your firearm as a private citizen when you sign up for the NW program, you are not restricted from reporting suspicious activity because you happen to have your firearm with you.

Your arguments are entirely specious to the events that occurred.

And again there is no evidence he "pursued" him any more than he "chased" him

    Pursue Definition
    dictionary.search.yahoo.com
    v. verb
To follow in an effort to overtake or capture; chase.

Zimmerman was not trying to apprehend him, that would have violated the law and I have no reason to believe someone who took criminal justice courses and had been a secruity guard did not know that and there is no evidence to support the claim he was trying to apprehend him. So let's cease with the misrepresenting it as a chase or a pursuit.

And let's not forget, the first encounter ended when Martin ran off, both could have gone their own merry separate ways. Martin was the one who wanted a confrontation and initiated the second, which THAT could have been a non-violent instead of an in-your-face that HE turned violent. Zimmerman didn't cause Martin's death, Martin caused his own death.

No, but I see why you want to jump to that conclusion.

What is "official" about being a Neighborhood Watch block captain? It's a volunteer position. There are no official powers associated with it. Are you denying that the NW has protocols for it's volunteers or that the dispatcher couldn't have knowledge of those protocols?

    http://www.keysso.net/commrelations/ccw/neighborhood_watch_manual.pdf
Patrol members should be trained by law enforcement. It
should be emphasized to members that they do not possess
police powers and they shall not carry weapons or pursue vehicles.
They should also be cautioned to alert police or deputies
when encountering strange activity. MEMBERS SHOULD NEVER
CONFRONT SUSPICIOUS PERSONS WHO COULD BE ARMED AND
    DANGEROUS.

SO WHAT? He was not acting in an official capacity, he was NOT on a patrol, he was going to the store. A citizen that signs up for a neighborhood watch program does not give up his right to carry his firearm when he goes to the store, nor does having it restrict him from reported a suspicious person. Nor is there a shred of evidence he was pursuing Martin. Most NW reports come from people in their homes, are you trying to maintain that if someone has a gun in the home they should not report a suspicious person?

    Also from the trial

"Donald O'Brien stressed that the homeowners association had nothing to do with the neighborhood watch program but that he did attend a meeting to start it. Residents were told to "stay away" from suspicious people and call police, O'Brien said.

He said he once text messaged Zimmerman with praises for a group of workers who followed a burglar. Their actions led to the arrest of a young black man, who was charged with burglaries in the neighborhood, O'Brien said.

O'Brien added that police indicated it was acceptable to follow suspicious persons at a safe distance. He also said he signed an agreement with police to increase patrol of the area and to tow illegally parked cars.".....

In testimony Tuesday, Wendy Dorival, who worked as the volunteer program coordinator for the Sanford Police Department, said she made a presentation to facilitate a neighborhood watch program in 2011 for residents of Retreat at Twin Lakes,...................

Dorival said she doesn't discuss whether residents should carry firearms while participating in neighborhood watch program.

She added that she believe Zimmerman was a professional person who wanted to make a change in his community, which had been targeted by burglars. Dorival said she tried to recruit Zimmerman to a citizens patrol program, but that he didn't want to participate.

Zimmerman lawyer Don West asked Dorival whether a person walking in rain between houses without a particular purpose — a description of Trayvon the night of the shooting — was suspicious. Dorival said yes and added that she encourages neighbors to know who doesn't belong and to call police.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2013/06/25/zimmerman-trial-trayvon-neighborhood-watch/2455163/

His actions that night were perfectly reasonable.

You're repeating yourself. Why is this line of argument so important to you? I'm not denying Zimmerman had every legal right to exit that vehicle and follow a person he considered a suspect in neighborhood burglaries. So why are you fabricating accusations that I'm saying he was acting in an "official capacity"?

You keep claiming he should not have been armed and should not have been alone, why do you make that claim? You keep talking about not following protocols, why do you keep talking about that?

Reread my posts. I said no such thing. If you want to fabricate stories to support your arguments, I can't stop you, but I'll certainly refute them.

NO, that is what you claimed and for what you have attempted to fault him.

He told the SPD that he was captain of the NW... a one many show... and his neighbors said that he patrolled nightly.

He was, which meant organizing the meetings and soliciting volunteers, there was no patrol in spite of the police attempts to organize one. Zimmerman declined to become a part of an official patrol and was not on a NW "patrol" which would have had any protocols as the poster claimed. And in fact as the SFD coordinator testified they did say that NW persons could follow and watch from a distance as long as they did not try to interact with the suspicious person.

As proven in court his actions that night did not add any criminal culpability and were entirely reasonable. He did NOT as you asserted engage in an assault or a stalking as you refuse to admit.

I once told a girl I made more waiting tables than I did teaching when asked why I didn't teach anymore (for the one year I left). Sometimes, pride makes you make claims not exactly true.

I wouldn't follow him... I have no illusions about being law enforcement and I don't carry a gun when I go for an evening walk.

Maybe SBB and Pardy were right. Here it is, 3 year anniversary of the incident where a kid was supposedly casing a neighborhood, and Trayvon hasn't been arrested since. Way to prove your critics wrong Martin....
