This is so very true, at least the American part. The Germans built this country, and I'm very proud to say I share that ancestry. Anybody can change citizenship, Hitler did it because he was envious of the German people and he lived in Germany for years, not because he was "German".
He was also a Swiss, which brings us back to the pointlessness of such lists, since many have changed citizenship, held dual ones, etc. For instance, a nationalist Pole might argue that Copernicus was Polish, a nationalist French that Schweitzer lived longer as a Frenchman, etc.
