Midwives did abortions without question back then. People back then regarded some things as private and would have been shocked if government even discussed things so intimate

    How are
I'm saying the whole controversy didn't exist. Some things were seen as beyond the bailiwick of government or anyone but the mother.

Do you believe US law should be based on Roman law?

Which of the Founding Fathers spoke out against abortion? And which of them were against the separation of Church and State?

Actually, Jefferson spoke out against abortion since Jefferson singlehandedly wrote the Declaration of Independence with his sentiment for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for Americans in that declaration.

BTW, Jefferson is the one who coined the phrase separation of church and state, but Jefferson wanted religion in American gov't just not one main religion making rules in American gov't like the Anglican Church did in England during the times of Henry VIII, the puritans and pilgrims The concept of separation of church and state that you perceive which is an absence of church from state is an atheist concept, er, an atheist desire, not a Jeffersonian desire or concept.

Reasons why the abortion issue didn't exist with the founders was:
    (1) There was no thinking that an unborn child was just a parasite of the mother
    (2) The founders didn't want federal gov't to be 'overbearing'.

Can you show the quote from Jefferson where he mentions abortion?

Another reason is that abortion in colonial times was more a sort of "folk medicine" procedure. You didn't go to doctor for that, you went to a midwife, or a trusted aunt (the one with the cats) and she gave you some special tea. Nothing was ever said about it afterwards as it wasn't anyone's business but yours really.

What did the Founding Fathers say about abortion? You think everything was all Scarlet Letter but the underlying fact there is that you had to be pretty blatant and out in the open about it to be caught at anything back then. Abortion was something handled by women themselves; men had little if any real say in such matters.

:) Weak attempt...Jefferson never mentioned abortion as you claimed...

Yes, WOMEN have the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and how awful that some people are trying to destroy that for women !!!!
