    Clearly it cannot. I think it's a semantic point. Generally speaking, 'parasite' has a negative connotation. That's my only point.

    I have not read the details of mistletoe, but right now my bet is that the relationship between the tree and the plant is symbiotic and not parasitic.

    According to Webster, symbiosis is a relationship of 2 or more different organisms in a close association that may be BUT IS NOT NECESSARILY of benefit to each.

    I think we're down to semantics here regarding the relationship between mother and baby.

    Parasite isn't just a negative connotation. The parasite KILLS the host. Benign means it doesn't cause any lasting harm.

    Mind, I not promoting the idea that the fetus is parasitic. It is not, though it threatens the mother's life from the moment it exists within her. Yet another right we take from women when we forbid abortions, the right of self-defense. HOW do we tolerate Republican tyrants in this country?

    It's not based on science, it's based on definitions, and it's not an opinion, it's a fact.

    If there is a living thing in your body that you don't want there it's an unwanted growth. Tumor, wart, fetus. Call it what you will, it's an unwanted growth and if it's in your body you have the right to remove it.

    How would you feel if you had a growth inside you that was making you sick but when you went to remove it this cult came along and said you couldn't because it was their belief that you could only remove it when it wouldn't hurt the growth.
