So you wish to go back to 1934 to make a point? Fine, I can go back to 1791.

Nobody yet has shown me that open carry in Kroger grocery stores is a real problem.

I get riled when you people start making asinine statements like "they only do it because they can" BS.
Quit with all that "we're exercising our rights" crap.
Glad to know you think our rights are crap.

Just carry openly and quit being a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*).
More insulting BS from you.

Only vegan, low testosterone, effeminate wimps get all uneasy.

No, instead you'll just post insult after insult on a forum and hide behind your monitor.

Speaking of grown...grow up.

I stated above insults on purpose to call attention to your holier-than-thou attitude.

We also know that this sort of asinine meme is about as common as finding the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

So, really. Stop acting all superior....the meme itself was more than cynical.

Then that should apply to person's carrying firearms as well.

No, I used 1934 because that was when the first tournament was held in Augusta.

Why? There are already certain limits a business owner can express, like "no shirt, no shoes, no service" etc....

Discriminating on basis of skin color, gender, etc. should have flown the way of the do-do by now, but that's why people with more sanity have to step in an straighten things out.

Guns are nothing but a tool, if the store doesn't want you carrying a shovel into the store, but allows a hammer, why fuss about not being able to carry the shovel? If they say no tools at all, then spend your money elsewhere, or take your tools off and shop, your choice.

What if I wanted to deny religious people from my business? I cannot do that.

If a business is forced to observe the 1st Amendment, then by god, they will be forced to observe the 2nd.

But even with the first amendment you have rules, like you cannot yell "fire" in a crowded theater, or "bomb" on an airplane.

Look, I think people should be able to carry whatever they feel like carrying. It is my opinion that carrying an AR15 or WASR10 in a grocery store or similar is someone looking for attention, that's all. I conceal carry because I like the element of surprise and to have the upper hand in case anything were to happen.

Depends on the guy. Did he point the gun at the cop in a menacing manner? If so, it was not hopolphobia. If the cop shot the guy for just having a firearm, than yes, it was hopolphobia...

I think open carry is stupid and short sided. But why should I be required to leave my M&P9C in the car when I go into a shopping mall (when no one will see it)?

Just realized how false the advertisement is. Both are welcome as long as they follow the rules.

Most of these people open carrying are not doing it for the "element of surprise"; they are IMHO "looking for attention". Same reason people have pink ribbons... They are showing their support for a cause. In this case, its for 2nd amendments rights.

How will they know you have it if you are concealed carrying?

I believe that's what I said in my post.

Am referring to a black and white, legal illegal, point of view.

You are right, if they can't see it, its a non-issue.

Open carry of anything is just to draw attention. I have a friend of mine that open carries a 1911, and he tells me that people in Wal Mart compliment him. Thats nice. But, people noticed him. He drew attention to himself. People knew that he had a firearm. That negates 99% of whatever advantaged that possessing a firearm offers. Be the grey man, don't stand out. Don't draw attention to yourself. Don't be a target.

For purposes of self-defense, I am staunchly against open carry.

Well, open carrying a 1911 in condition 1 is for the no-nonsense crowd anyway. That is just telling someone you are ready for action. Carrying in Condition 0 means you have a screw loose....

And it was always a mens club only until some people got all bent about it.

- - - Updated - - -

Post a pic of someone "marching around like Rambo". I see plenty of pics of people open carrying that are doing just the opposite.

Is that any different from a Glock or a safetyless striker fired pistol?

Glock comes with a 5.5lb trigger spring stock, can be modified to 3.5lbs. Stock 1911 has around a 2.5lb. trigger pull.

Big difference in just the trigger pull weight and length of pull.

As for the safeties, Glock has the standard trigger safety, whereas the 1911 has the beavertail safety, which has been know to fail, (usually when trying to fire), so that really leaves the thumb safety as your only component left.

As with all firearms, the only true safety is the one between the ears.

Kroger certainly has the right idea.

Personally, those who think going back to the Old West days is bad
don't know history. They're getting views from movies and TV. The Old
West was calm and shoot outs and gunfights in the streets were rare.

I have no problem with people exercising their second amendment rights in a positive way. Be a responsible owner. Enjoy your guns safely. Wearing a rifle to the grocery store in nothing more than a nose thumbing show of bravado in an attempt to scare or incite drama. A pistol tucked into a concealed holster is perfectly acceptable to me. The flaunting of the weapon in an attempt to seem like your "Hard" is just a thugs tactic.

As for the farm in NY, I never said I backed the government. I said the private citizens were taking the legal course of action to address a situation in which they felt their rights were being violated. Personally I think they should have found some place else, it wouldn't be that hard as most venues don't care who the client is as long as they are getting business.

Again I have no problem with concealed carry, however there is no reason what so ever to carry a rifle or long arm into a business.
