So what? His hypothesis (more guns, less crime) has proven to be absolutely correct. In 1987 Florida became the first State to issue carry permits to civilians. Since then, all 50 do, although in a few it's mostly restricted to friends of politicians and celebrities. (NY, CA, the usual suspects.) Also since that time tens of millions of guns have entered circulation. Most importantly, also during that time crime (of all types) has fallen from pretty much record highs to pretty much record lows. So, as a matter of FACT, we have more guns and simultaneously less crime.
The DP is the party of gun bans and other extremist gun control schemes to disarm law abiding human beings, and sanctuary cities, and Gun Free Killing Zones. That really helps the RP - and it needs all the help it can get.

I did not base my post on Lott, but declared your statement the DentalFloss’s assertion that as the number of guns has increased over the last two decades there has been a huge drop in violent crime as ‘factually incorrect’ to be flat out wrong. Note, I did not opine on any causality, but some may suggest a correlation.

More guns because gun owners keep adding to their gun collections. The percentage of the population who own firearms has actually gone down. Crime fell way more in NYC (where concealed carry is very restricted) than it did in any shall issue state. So your spin on "more guns less crime" doesn't mean much.
I wouldn't count on that being accurate. I wasn't old enough to legally own a gun in 1987, so clearly I haven't been "adding to my collection" since then. Same holds true for most of my gun owning friends. I didn't buy my first one until ~2012. Hell, even many of my Hillary loving liberal friends have guns. But, I'll tell you this. Neither myself, nor anyone with whom I've discussed it, would tell a random poller on a phone call that we own firearms, or how many, or what kind. Not to mention I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know, meaning I'll probably never get polled. Gun stores in WA State are reporting increases in business of 600% since they passed that stupid (and probably Unconstitutional) gun control initiative last election. Lastly, CCW permit holders are not a problem. They commit crimes at a level that's 6x lower than even law enforcement officers.
