It's called 'gun free zones', these are places where a legally licensed to carry gun owner is forbidden from carrying a firearm. These include schools, universities, hospitals, government buildings, and any private business that posts guns are not allowed. Where have almost all the mass shootings taken place? Gun free zones. All the school shootings, the night club in Florida, etc Were all gun free zones. That is the fallacy of your argument, make laws to ban guns and you only disarm law abiding citizens. Criminals don't obey the laws.
Shootings committed within the home, between family members, do not count. Not to those who are actually interested in intellectual honesty.

The first one at the University of Texas, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, etc. These are all gun free zones...Bars where alcohol is served such as the one in Florida, the Christmas Party in San Francisco...all gun free zones. Deny it all you want to, but the places where 90% of the mass shootings take place are gun free zones. Some whacko knows they can do the most damage without opposition because people are not allowed to concealed carry in that establishment, school, etc. So they get their 5 minutes of infamy and are seen on TV. Criminals are going to get their guns, you can't stop them, just like you can't stop all the drugs. So quit villifying lawful gun owners and start hammering criminals. Make prison a place they never want to go back to again.
After every mass shooting, the news media interviews people who where there and ask them any number of questions about what they saw, heard, felt, etc. Not once has any of them asked "Why didn't you shoot back?"

"in the community" is code for "in the ghettos and barrios". The vast majority of "mass shootings" where four or more are injured are gang related, and the modal number of dead and wounded is zero and four, respectively.

Again, name them...schools, bars, nightclubs, hospitals, government bldgs are all places you cannot legally carry a firearm openly or concealed.
