Eugene D. Genovese, in full Eugene Dominick Genovese, (born May 19, 1930, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.—died September 26, 2012, Atlanta, Georgia), American historian. He earned a doctorate at Columbia University and taught at Rutgers, Columbia, Cambridge, and elsewhere. He is known for his writings on the American Civil War and slavery, especially Roll, Jordan, Roll (1974) and The Slaveholders’ Dilemma(1992). He advanced his argument in A Consuming Fire: The Fall of the Confederacy in the Mind of the White Christian South (1998).

LOL! Of course, I know who Eugene Genovese was. He was a Bancroft Prize winner and was elected to head the OAH. Genovese was one of America's most prominent historians - and an avowed Communist - with a guilty conscience.

Now, are you saying that Genovese's denunciation of the the crimes of communism was "historical revisionism?

".... Americans who honor the spirit and content of the Constitution would feel compelled to defend our academic freedom, including our right to have borne with equanimity the blood purges and mass executions. If, however our innocents insist on pleading ignorance rather than a complicity permitted by the Constitution, they ruin themselves. Especially the historians among them. For they thereby admit to a willful refusal to examine the evidence that has been piled high from the beginning. Thus they confess to professional incompetence."

"When someone gets around to asking me the question I shall answer frankly,...But I shall insist upon doing so in a forum in which 'democratic socialists', 'radical democrats', and liberals are called upon to answer too. For it is our collective dirty linen that has to be washed. And besides, our right-wing adversaries already know the answer...."

"Our whole project of 'human liberation' has rested on a series of gigantic illusions. The catastrophic consequences of our failure during this century - not merely the body count- but the monotonous recurrence of despotism and wanton cruelty - cannot be dismissed as aberrations. Slimmed down to a technologically appropriate scale, they have followed in the wake of victories of radical egalitarian movements throughout history."
Eugene D. Genovese, "The Crimes of Communism: What did you know, and when did you know it?" "DISSENT" Summer, 1994.

Because their disclaimers aside the ultimate and true leftist goal is to disarm the general population.

For some leftists this is simply because they honestly believe that disarming the population will usher in an era of peace and stability for the nation and everyone will link arms and sing Kumbaya while a style Star Trek Federation of Planets type of Utopia magically comes into existence.

Other leftists on the other hand have different reasons for disarming this nation having everything to do with establishing blanket control of a MADE DOCILE population from one end to the other. They KNOW that you cannot ram socialism or Marxism down a nation's gagging throat unless you disarm it first.

Genovese had many issues, but being a guilty commie was not one of them.

Once normal Americans are able to determine why the left wants to implement red flag laws I expect this issue will go away.

After all, it will only be a few short years for leftists to claim that anyone owning a weapon is a danger simply by owning a firearm, and needs their guns taken away. Normal Americans still honor the concept of innocent until proven guilty, and recognize how liberals/progressives/socialists wish to circumvent the constitution.

Should people who are nuts be locked up? Yep. And so should felons with numerous convictions in victimizing normal Americans. But leftists are doing everything they can to ensure these evil people are not kept away from us normals.

At least you recognize that America is still a special place, not at all similar to those governments who have disarmed their citizens.

The issue of how an armed population can successfully withstand a standing army intent on killing their citizens has been discussed in detail elsewhere.

Leftist governments have disarmed, then slaughtered, their own citizens countless times. You simply need to read a history book to understand this. And our founders were prescient in providing us our Bill of Rights, knowing that an armed citizenry is essential to prevent tyranny.

Liberals/progressives/socialists have made their intentions crystal clear. But then again, this is precisely why we have the 2A, right?

Red Flag and UBC laws have tremendous support.

After the massive blue election next year, they will rapidly become law.

"For many years I have lived in dread of having to answer the Question. Curiously, no one has asked it. ...The Question: What did you know and when did you know it? ...I remained a supporter of the international movement and of the Soviet Union until there was nothing left to support. Now, as everyone knows, in a noble effort to liberate the human race we broke all records for mass slaughter, piling up tens of millions of corpses in less than three quarters of a century." Eugene D. Genovese, "The Crimes of Communism: What did you know, and when did you know it?" "Dissent" Summer, 1994.

Genovese eventually developed a serious handicap for anyone dedicated to creating a workers' paradise - a human conscience.

Texas have very liberal gun laws yet it didn't stop the mass shootings. Your theory have been proven false.

False. Walmart isn't as gun free zone. Reality is not many people will walk around carrying guns at the ready to be a "hero." That is a false narrative peddled by the right.

The mass shootings in Texas have occurred where citizens are not permitted to carry guns.

Lesson, far more Americans need to be carrying concealed handguns to stop criminals from drawing guns and to make sure they are shot down quickly when they do.

Everyone knows by now that no law will prevent criminals from obtaining and using firearms.
It is time to stop denying the obvious - More Guns = Less Crime.

Many states have a already watered down the 2A without going through the actual process.

You haven't defined what constitute an assault rifle. As far as insurance, no company would be dumb enough to provide such an animal.

LOL What? Kindly point out where in the 2A that say so? So you mean to tell me there is a definition what "arms" is. Funny that. I'd be more more successful at defending against a standing army with those than I would be with an AR15.

Look in the mirror. Low information righties don't know how much a background check cost for buying ammos yet chose to spread ludicrous fake news. How about stop with your nonsensical deflection and prove what you said is true. I know you can't.

No, far less citizens need to be carrying fire arms, back ground checks need to be strengthened, and red flags rigorously created and enforced.

Consider the use of another potential lethal weapon, the automobile.

All are required to establish competence in the operation of their devices that are regularly inspected. If behaving in a manner that would suggest intoxication, a sobriety test is administered, even upon teetotalers who are suspected.

Do licensed drivers whine that DMVs and traffic police should be ignoring them and profiling only those other people?

    That would be very silly.

In order to determine who should not be driving, everyone who wishes to drive is treated equally under the law and is subjected to the same scrutiny.

We would have to increase 'a good guy with a gun' a hundred times to maybe have an impact, and that will be probably be bad.

Can you see everyone shooting at each other on the highway between Odessa and Midland, no one knowing who is the 'good guy.'

A firearm as the name suggests is a portable hand held gun fired by an individual as opposed to stationary weapons like artillery that requires multiple people. There are portable rocket launchers however they are not considered a firearm because they are designed to fire projectiles that deliver explosives to a target as opposed to firing a solid projectile that is not designed to explode on contact.

You know, you're right! The second amendment doesn't specifically mention what kind of arms. Damn I'm going over to Walmart now to grab me a rocket launcher and a mortar, hell I'm going to get me some hand grenades. FIREARMS ARE PISTOLS AND RIFLES look it up.
