Has the FBI shown a double standard regarding Trump and Clinton?

I think one of the reasons that Trump and his supporters so resent the current investigations is that there seems to be a double standard applied to them. To whit;

1. Uranium One, personally I do not believe the payments to the Clintons influenced Hilary's decisions at all but I think it is a clear conflict of interest and should have been investigated by the FBI as they had been made aware by informant William Campbell. But they did nothing, only forced into it Senate Judiciary Committee. There were numerous meetings between the Clintons and Russians but none have ever been investigated.

2. Emails; Comey deciding for himself to shut down the Hilary emails investigation without ever referring it to the Grand Jury or DOJ, an unprecedented move. Especially as Hilary had constantly changed her account (yet was never prosecuted like Flynn was?) and deleted thousands of emails which she had been ordered to surrender (maybe it's not Trump who obstructed justice?). Employing senior agents on the case with blatant anti-Trump bias and Senior Director McCabe whose wife was standing as a DNC candidate backed financially by the Clintons, never recused himself and Comey never forced him to until the scandal broke AFTER the decision was made to end the investigation. Furthermore computer records show that Comey actually drafted the letter closing the investigation BEFORE Hilary had been interviewed. Leaking government documents to the press, granting immunity to Clinton staff in return for their testimony then not requiring it then destroying their computers?

It is strange times, historically the FBI has always been the enemy of the left and considered a right wing organisation. It seems these days it is configured against the GOP?

 

I didn't see Clinton getting any kind of a break when about a week before the election Comey announced re-opening their investigation. I notice most posting favoring the GOP conveniently forget that.

 

He was protecting his ass because the news about the emails was well known, at least internally. And if she got elected and those emails proved to be far worse than what they supposedly led to, his ass would have been grass. So instead he simple brought it out and turned it into a joke instead. He got points for doing his job, but obviously did it so piss poor and let her off for what would have put nearly every other human being in prison.

 

Clinton received a letter of exoneration before she was investigated.

Why would Republicans think she got off easy?

Hillary Clinton's exoneration letter was written by the FBI before they every interviewed her, or much of her staff. In fact, they gave her staff immunity and then... NEVER INTERVIEWED THEM! WTF?

True but that's because there does seem to be a double standard to all this as the poll confirms. Plus you could argue the DNC are stringing out the whole collusion angle to try to influence 2020.

Expecting Hillary to be elected, her impeachment investigation would have proven easily that he covered for her, and his career would have ended.

Yes; they didn't reveal that they were investigating Trump before the election for possible links between Russia and his campaign but they revealed (through Chaffetz) that they had reopened their investigation into HRC's emails. Double standard, indeed.

I doubt it, I think Comey announced it because if he didn't it would leak and then that would damage Hilary.

 

If the FBI said they were investigating HRC for emails, then it should have announced it was investigating the Trump campaign for canoodling with the Russians.

 

Possibly but remember one was already out in the open as a result of him 'clearing' her. I would love to see a survey of why people did vote for Trump, if the emails or the Russian propaganda or other factors actually changed people's votes?
