He said "stopped" which is a past tense. Since that moment, the number of dead in the US has increased at least 4x and the number of infections has increased at least 10x.

    FFS man, stop pretending.

Where's the dead bodies piling up at?
    A 4x increase in a small number,.......is a small number.

And if increase in tested/confirmed cases is 250% of the increase in deaths, then the death rate is much lower than advertised, as most cases are undiagnosed in a global pandemic and significantly outpace diagnosed cases

At the time he thought the China travel ban stopped the virus. It's a fluid situation and things change fast.

How the f*** would you know what he thought? I can't believe that was the information he was given from his counsel. Do you ever tire of making sh** up out of whole cloth to defend trump?

Nah I'm really not. My pantry is stocked and I'm able to work remotely. I'm good. You guys are still full of sh**. The way trump has handled most of this emergency is disgraceful.

It took pressure to get him to cancel rallies. He loves those ... they are ego-fests.

No, that's inaccurate. You should be able to listen to your leaders for guidance and advice on how to handle crises like this one. But we have a wholly inept leader who lies all the *******n time. His party and favorite media sources choose to echo it for weeks:

For weeks, conservative media joined Trump in downplaying the threat of the coronavirus

Republicans are twice as likely as Democrats to view coronavirus coverage as exaggerated

If the death rate were 30%, don't you think the government would be wise to take drastic measures? The way this disease is spreading is alarming, even with a low death rate. Any government would need to shut things down and make us stay home so that we don't keep infecting ourselves.

Yeah, I get that such drastic measures can be a slippery slope to create, then maintain, more control over the populace, but in your 30% scanario, what are the alternatives?

If Trump had done his job, the U.S. would have no infections or deaths.

LOL! As I keep asking, is it still paranoia if they really are out to get you?

Seriously, though, I realize that natural or contrived disasters are often used by governments to tighten their grip on the populace, and we the people need to be aware and vigilant, and work to get any restrictions lifted once the disaster has gone, but since the National Emergencies Act of 1976 was signed into law, there have been 59 declared emergencies, and I read somewhere that 33 are still in effect, so maybe we should start with those, see if they contain language that could infringe on our personal freedoms, and work to get them stopped.

No ****. I am working from home because everything is being shut down just to keep this virus from overwhelming our healthcare systems.

Meanwhile, Trump said yesterday that we have this very much under control while Dr. Fauci said the worst is yet to come.

I am at the office, working hard.

We do have it under control. The "worst" in the sense of we will find out more are infected. But we got this under control completely. Dr. Fauci is a expect, so glad Trump put the smart folks on the issue. Glad he did't put some party political operative on it.
