That's brilliant. By my count, there's six of them correct, seven if you count "Almost Mexico".

"Is THIS one Maryland?" Nope. That's Mormonland. Good grief, do we really have that many states that starts with M?

This is a gross generalisation of my view of the USA.

Imperialist. Insular. Ignorant. Self-obsessed. Exceptionalist. Corporate-run. On the cusp of implosion (socially). Rampant inequity. Poor health and economic mobility outcomes. Internationally aggressive. Arrogant. Non-functional quasi-democracy. Delusional (about itself).

Yeah...what is it with Aussie Men?

You put any body of water within their eyesight and they take of all their clothing and go nude swimming?

I am not inhibited but I would feel better about it if there were a few girls in the mix! LOL!!!

That was the Chinese Communist Party's plan....loan us so much money that they figured that they could sway U.S. Policy.

Instead it did the exact opposite.

NEVER lend money to anyone that you cannot force payment from.

Interesting how the drop bear myth began.

A couple of Aussie journalists working on opposite coasts in the US started the myth as an April Fools joke in the 1970s.

From what I remember, one journalist kicked it off in NYC and a journalist working in California responded. The story bounced between them for a week. No one was the wiser. In the 1970s, Australia was still a bit of a mystery to most Americans.

I linked to an official entry by the Australian Museum, recognized world wide for its authority and prestige. You would not be calling them liars now would you ;)

Americans are far more inquisitive and curious about other countries than they ever get credit for

That is an understandable assessment. I can see exactly why as well. I hear this from many visiting foreigners. It makes me sad and is hard to hear because I am American but one cannot deny that the things said are currently big in America. I think that was a song once.

Just for a moment, when you take someone to a magical and beautiful place that even Americans have never seen, just for moment in time, all that seems to melt away, just for a moment. Then on the way home from this godlike experience, a stark reality blast you in the face like a firebomb with Rush Limbaugh on the radio but you quickly turn it off to try and hide from them what we have become. Knowing full well what is happening. They are cutting the trees down and us too.

Oh f..k, I've gone and gifted myself some tears.

The thing is, something that takes time to learn is how Americans think. Americans see very little grey. A situation is good or it is bad. Rarely is it simply acceptable. The other things to understand, Americans are incredibly hard on themselves, unbelievably so

I know but it must change. America can never go back to its former self and I don't wish it to. It is a little like playing a game where the rules keep changing in the middle of the game. If you keep changing the rules in the middle of the game, you can never complete the game for a little rest to begin a new one tomorrow. You never rest and you can't measure how you are progressing in the game, you feel frustrated without an outcome that you can base your value to the game and as a player in the game.

It takes a lot of work but I am still hopeful it can be done.

Interesting point - puts me in mind immediately of an item on the Daily Show where Stewart was showing "current affairs" programmes with the talking heads demanding "good or bad?"

America has had the often forced on responsibility of being the world's cop. Because of that sense of 'right or wrong,' she has accepted that responsibility. But the lack of 'gray' has caused her to stumble at times.

But also, a historical trend has been for the lesser nations to love to see the mighty fall. Not realizing that the fall of the mighty will often affect the weaker, and gloating will turn to regret pending defense and/or economic status.

Many 'end timers' see America as a type of 'the fall of Mystery Babylon' prophesied in Revelation, a nation built on wealth, economy and God that 'rots' from the inside out; i.e. causing her own down fall.

I can see the 'rotting' from the inside as America is divided ("a house divided cannot stand', Abe Lincoln quoting scripture) and her 'soul' is under attack not since the time of the Civil War.

Will she rise back to her World power status as a leader; or will she fade into mediocrity as a once mighty Europe has done......??
