    You misunderstand.....you are completely correct.

I was just trying to be a bit more discrete....but I realize that to any American this is beyond obvious so I apologize for being testy.

    Yes....near Derby.

Know a name of an Aussie Beer that has a Brown and Gold Bottle...lager? Was a bit dark for a lager....DEEP AMBER COLOR.

so you have never eaten our food. Maybe you can give us an example of what you have eaten that you think is Australian.

The world also would have a lot less stuff without Aussie ingenuity.

    You know....I am not sure.

The colors are right but the name is not ringing a bell. That could just be me and perhaps this is the beer...but I am just not sure.

All I can remember was my Aussie Girlfriend buying me some beer that didn't suck and it had a gold and brown label....was a lager and had no bitter aftertaste.

It was dark amber in color.

This experience happened after a particularly difficult and sweaty JOB...that we finished early but there were a few things that happened we were all trying to forget.

The name of the beer might have been included in this.

I'm not a beer connoisseur but have tried and stayed with certain beers, but one I couldn't stand was bud weiser, which was a while ago while working on a cattle ranch in Oregon! I was very disappointed but can't describe now what it was that I didn't like about it! Lol. I suppose I thought it was very bland in flavour and had thoughts that I was drinking methylated spirits!

As for the beer you're attempting to describe I'm probably with grrr!

Well I guess I could say everything I ate when I lived in Australia was Australian food. Even the 'big macs' were different, they had beets on them instead of pickles.

But a boring bland food unique to Australia is a meat pie.

I'm not trying to say anything 'invidious'. I'm just saying, you meet one Australian and you pretty much have met them all.

Well they are not unique to Australia, and meat pies are basically a comfort food, and not considered by anyone to be high dinning in Australia.

Your observation about blandness is due more to cultural flavor profiles than the food itself. I have found Americans have very sweet tastes, in Australia we go more to the savory end of the scale. The base produce can also affect the tatste. In my opinion American beef by and large is pretty poor, but American pork products are simply outstanding. With things like chicken I'd suggest both countries are on par with each other

You're eating the wrong brand of chicken. The chicken in America is superior, but the beef in Australia is generally better.

The lamb in Australia is amazing and unblievably inexpensive, but the chicken in Australia is unbelievably expensive.

One food product I miss is cans of tuna with curry sauce and cans of tuna with other sauces. I think this product could be really successful in America.

Copying this product could be an opportunaty for someone.

Yeah I was surprised by that when I moved to the US. For a nation that loves it tuna, I thought that line of products would be an absolute no brainer for someone to introduce.

Oh if you want good lamb. Try New Zealand.

I have never seen a Big Mac with beetroot on it, nor have I ever seen one without pickle. Maccas do have an Aussie Burger with beetroot though. I agree about the beef and chicken, most US beef is factory beef with grain fed cattle, which is where the standards drop. As for lamb, a lot of Americans look down their noses at lamb, a hanger on from the old days when they hated sheep farmers because they fenced of the ranges.

Now an American breakfast is a killer. So much sugar.

I ted to drink beer for effect ad to quench my thirst.as in summer in Massachusetts it is not uncommon for temperatures to soar well over 100 degree for many days in a row as well the humidity here will KILL YOU as we have days where we have temps between 96 to 103 degrees with close to 100% humidity.

I have been all over the world and the hottest place on planet Earth is Death Valley California where I have been.and the hottest air temperature ever recorded on planet Earth was in Death Valley at 134 °F...57 degrees C.

As well Australia gets very hot as well but the thing is here in Massachusetts 103 to 104 degrees F. at 98% humidity feels well over 135 degrees on the heat index as water vapor transfers heat more efficiently than low humidity air.

I have family in Phoenix Arizona and the temps. there are consistently in the spring, summer and early fall well over 110-120 degrees F.....but because the air is so dry there it feels much hotter where I live in the summer.

Because of such high temps....no one here really drinks heavy beer in the summer...although we do in the winter...as right now it is SNOWING....AGAIN.....and it is only 8 degrees F outside so I am having Sam Adam's Winter Ale....Good Stuff!!!

After reading your post I have to ask, why would anyone live in Massachusetts? It sounds horrible.

Australia, on the other hand, has great weather, at least where I was in Rockhampton Queensland. That place has perfect weather, tropical and sunny, year round, awsome...

We have a very old saying on Massachusetts which is part of the region of the U.S. called...New England...which is comprised of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine...6 U.S. States which is very close to the size of the U.K....80,823 square miles vs. New England.... 71,991.8 square miles.

The saying goes...If you don't like the weather in New England....wait a moment! Because that's all it takes is a moment for the weather to change here.

We get 4 seasons....a very HOT Summer and a very snowy and COLD winter as well we have a GLORIUS Spring and Fall....as in Spring there are all sorts of flowering plants and trees and it is a wonder to see and as well New England is known World Wide as the place to be to see the most colorful and extensive Fall Foliage Color Change in the world as in Fall the entire landscape is like one huge area of Reds, Yellows, Oranges, Purples and colors of the tree leaves become so vibrant that I have seen it bring people who have never been here before or seen such a thing to TEARS.

The best lamb I've ever eaten came from Junee when my sister still had her farm. She and hubby generally raised horses, Australian Quarter and Stock horses. She also bred Thoroughbred cross Clydsedale for the show jumper crowd.

They kept sheep for the local meat market. Fantastic!

They sold the farm a few years ago when the drought hit really hard. Bought a service station and workshop. He hubby is a mechanic by trade and are doing well again.

Best hamburgers can be had from independent cafes or the old fish and chip shops. Usually owned by Greek or Italian families. Aussie burgers MUST have beetroot on them. Nothing quite like it.

Not sure that beer quenches the thirst but certainly dehydrates! Having a few beers while playing golf on a hot summers day had me on a drip on a couple of occasions until I was educated by the fact! By the way it was Victoria bitter that did it to me! I only ever suffered dehydration during the summer by the way so doesn't surprise that full strength isn't popular in summer months! In humid weather having a few beers while sweating profusely is a bad mix unless your drinking water! By the way I'm not an alcoholic by non AA standards!

Since I seldom drink during the day at least while I am in Massachusetts....except on Holiday's....I try very much to avoid the Mid-Day Beer Headache! LOL!!!

But if a person were to drink 3 or 4 heavy beers in say an hour here in Massachusetts in the Summer....they are going to be very dehydrated and very sleepy.
