So you do admit that murder happens. Great. Tell me what is your plan for the defense of a 100lb woman against a 300lb man intending to do harm? Kick him in the balls? That stops teens and preteens from fighting but not grown adults bent on killing. You watch this video and tell me honestly if you think a "kick in the balls" would have successfully kept you from harm. Fair warning though, it is a difficult video to watch.

And something about being kicked in the balls that you evidently don't know about it that it takes a few seconds for the pain to really set in. When my brother and I were in our 20's, my brother Mike got in a argument with a guy down the street and Randy took the first shot and kicked Mike in the nuts, then my brother took a step forward and clocked him in the head and knocked Randy out.

Guess who was back on their feet first? Hint: It sure wasn't Randy.

So you think a kick in the balls is going to work in the above video? Honestly?

Strawman

No one anywhere claims murders do not happen

They just happen three times as often in the USA than Australia

Tell me the statistics for how many times that is the scenario

IF and I repeat IF 100 lb women (or in Australian terms 45 kg) are at that much risk - why are there not more murders of women in Australia?? And to be realistic here - if a man weighed 136 kg I can pretty well bet most of that would be fat - on the other hand the 45 kg woman is probably an athlete

Guess who is going to get an arse kicking??

So how often it happens factors in to how you feel about it? Is it ok if it happens just once? What's the magic number? To me, once is too many times.

And if that 100lb woman is 50 years old? You plan on her kicking a 300lb, or hell even a 200lb man's ass?

Sorry but is it not the American Gun lobby trying to get everyone to accept the high murder rate in America - most of which is gun related

Gun control is a form of prevention - does not mean every murder will be prevented but a significant number will be. Tell me is not even one life worth the price?

But this is a common fallacy - that women are safer with guns

Women are often targets of rape and robbery. Thugs love perceived easy targets. There is an explosion of women buying firearms and taking concealed carry classes which teach safe firearm handling.

And they are still at greater risk if there is a gun in the home

And 35% of them have nothing to do with firearms.

Our country has problems that can't be fixed with firearm legislation.

We need address the poverty, family values, and the lack of parental role models because of single parent households.

So what's your plan for women to defend themselves? Just one plan. Just one.

I've asked you 4 or 5 times now what's your plan for women who need to defend themselves, and I think that by you not answering that question, repeatedly, that...

you have no plan.

Hand to hand does have its place, but give me a firearm any day. Only a certain type of people (active and not complaining about arthritis) can use it effectively. The firearm can be used by anyone who can stand the recoil, which is pretty much anyone with hands that work.

And what is that?

ETA: I find your evasiveness and inability to simply answer the question to be very telling. Maybe others do as well.

Not repeating myself again

The research is clear - women are at a HIGHER risk of death and injury if there is a gun in the house.

It is the equivalent of standing in the middle of an open plain - you might get hit by lightning and you might not, however if you stand on a hill holding a long metal rod in the middle of a thunderstorm......................

The one that has fewer women shot injured and killed than in America

By your logic we should ban cars, because having a car will increase your likelyhood of being in a car crash.

You should be careful of the words you choose as it could skew people perception of your position on women's defense.

It sounds like you are saying that rape and murder of women are acceptable as long there are no guns involved, even in regards to a woman using one to defend herself.

A rape victim is morally superior to a woman who used a gun to defend herself from rape successfully? Seriously?

Duh.

You know the drill by now....

Gun in house.... Chance of death or injury.
Drive car...... Chance of death or injury.
Own pool..... Chance of death or injury

Of course you are at higher risk than if you don't own these.

??????

Makes no sense

Bottom line - a gun in the house is not only more dangerous but many times more dangerous

Since rape and murder are more often committed by intimate partners - then keeping dangerous weapons OUT of the hands of those partners might be a bloody good idea don't you think???

Then take a class on "Weapon Retention Techniques", maybe OrlandoChuck would give you a discount on the class. Would seem to be common sense to me.

Poisons, prescription drugs, knives, cars, pools, guns.......... All put your life at more risk than if you don't have them.
If safe gun handling protocols are followed (ie the four rules of gun safety) there are zero accidents.
I teach firearm safety and encourage those with firearms to get training.
