    What was this?

That was you making it personal about me! I don't care if you disguised it in "people of faith." It was in direct response to my remarks to brucebeat.

Your remarks to me showed you didn't know where the hell you were!

What was my first post in the thread? It had nothing to do with answering his question. Then I answered you why I didn't participate in your thread and in like-threads.

You asked me to start a thread that asked the question of the thread you are in.

That and where you told me you don't look at actual data before forming an opinion.
That was a good one, too.
You simply ran away from that thread altogether.

I've typically found what the others have...

the self-righteous Christians, especially the "Bible believers", act just as jerky and obnoxious as the worst person who is NOT a Christian and when confronted by it say "We Christians aren't perfect...just forgiven" or the other rationalization "We struggle with sin every day" (which means they're going to keep doing it, just claim they're trying not to).

But let an atheist or even skeptic act like a jerk and they say "See? Shows how rotten a person becomes when they don't beleive in God (by which they naturally mean Jesus of course)!!!!"

Want a quick example?...ask 90% of the "Bible Believers" who blog....if they are living by Titus 3:2 (an old favorite of mine).....and watch the excuses start flying.

I try to treat others as I'd want to be treated.
I try not to judge others actions as no one can be perfect. I enjoy many of life's perks that are considered sinful by chritians. But you only live once. BTW - those perks do nothing against my fellow human.

Well I'm happy to explain it to you then taikoo. We're talking at the very BEST about a god who could find NO other way not to send billions of people to be ETERNALLY TORTURED othen than a brutal torture slaying. There HAS to be something VERY wrong with ANYONE who would believe that story.

So then what you are saying is that you don't think you can produce an intelligent defense of your positions. That's understandable since all of the facts, logic, and historical truth supports atheism not Christians. In fact the ONLY way Christians are able to hold onto their beliefs is to shut off their brains and ignore all that. "Faith" has no regard for truth!

Rats. Im skewered, defeated, out maneuvered and struck utterly with the "spirit of the escalator". :D

L'esprit de l'escalier or l'esprit d'escalier ("staircase wit") is a French term used in English that describes the predicament of thinking of the perfect retort too late.

This name for the phenomenon comes from French encyclopedist and philosopher Denis Diderot's description of such a situation in his Paradoxe sur le comédien.[1] During a dinner at the home of statesman Jacques Necker, a remark was made to Diderot which left him speechless at the time, because, he explains, "l’homme sensible, comme moi, tout entier à ce qu’on lui objecte, perd la tête et ne se retrouve qu’au bas de l’escalier" ("a sensitive man, such as myself, overwhelmed by the argument levelled against him, becomes confused and can only think clearly again [when he reaches] the bottom of the stairs").

LOL! Some people have lives outside of Internet forums. Also, some Christians feel you are better off to ignore you. You make too many assumptions of Christians, all of them negative. Not all Christians are the same by the way.

What would be wrong if you did harm fellow humans? Clearly theres no heaven and hell, we're just sacks of DNA as Darwin said. What makes your sack of DNA more important than that of say a Cow or a tree?

He would then become a target for others by doing harm wantonly.
Do unto others becomes a matter of self-preservation on a practical level.

In fairness to YouLie, you are making his case for him.
My thread was not about faith, nor about the truth of the bible. It was about which biblical character you liked even if you thought it was outright fiction.
I may share some of your feelings about faith, but they have nothing to do with the thread I started. YL said it would get him attacked on that basis anyway, and you are proving him right.

i suppose, you sometimes hear of people being attacked by cows and tree falling on people. You believe in karma? Still what makes his sack of DNA more important than a cows?

    On a practical level?
Cows pose no counter threat to him, other than methane.

So really we dont need murder laws then since we wont kill another person because we're naturally afraid of retribution? Slavery wouldnt be wrong either then, its just a matter of coping with retribution that might come your way? Interesting......Hmm do you own a pet?

Satan is the character I like most. He knows what he wants and isn't ashamed to seek it. Everyone else seems to buy into God's moralistic nonsense.

Murder laws reflect the fact that it is outside that norm. When people don't have that normal control there is a consequence.
The retribution is the consequence of doing the wrong. You would not have slavery done unto you either, and you could expect someone to revolt against it.
What are you trying to argue for? I don't know that I'm following you.
    Love my pets.

I would be causing pain, hardship, or other sadness. I respect other humans. That is all. Then we should have a civil society stating what is wrong and how doing wrong to society needs retribution.
My DNA is no more important. If I do harm on purpose, then I'd be saying my DNA is more important.

Not everyone lives by the rules I said I try to live by. So, yes, we need those murder laws. Slavery would only be wrong if the society deems it wrong. And of now, that is most of the worlds societies.
What is your point with animals? You think they should be treated as humans?
