Was left amazed after watching a local news piece on another kid left mistakenly in the back seat of a hot car. So called experts were suggesting that parent leave their purse or cell phone in the back seat so they wouldn't forget to check their back seat before they leave the car. AS IF no one would forget to leave their purse or cell phone in the car and so they would discover the child when they retrieve their phone or purse. If true, parents have some ****ed up priorities.

 

They are trying to protect stupid people from killing their kids. Pretty simple. We wouldn't need these laws if some people weren't so stupid.

Cars are killing people, we clearly need legislation to stop the violence with car culture.

Could be a modern American thing. I grew up in America and could play outside, go 1/2 mile to the creek, mile to the river. Hell, we would tell mom were going to play on the train tracks 1 +1/2 miles away and she wouldn't think anything of it.

 

The only problem is it was 40 degrees outside and the children were 2 and 4. Children at that age aren't as secesible to the heat as say a newborn. Had it been 90 degrees outside then I would agree with you. The only risk I would consider with the variables given in the article would be a potential kidnapper.

 

They may teach themselves how to drive. Then when mom's away, they'll drive to the nearest crack house and shoot up herion until they OD. Happens all the time where I live. Don't leave 4 year olds in the car alone. They'll end up overdosing on herion.

 

Or at least use the air conditioner. For the sake of confessing: Yes, there were times when I was left alone in the car and my mother would enter a store. Luckily, the do-gooders were nowhere to be found. One might also say "Good that you didn't die from overheat" or "good that you weren't kidnapped", but who's to say they wouldn't have tried to kidnap a child from a single mother anyway, had I been attached to her hip.

If anything, my mother taught me self independence and that she wasn't always going to be there to hold my thumb. Now I know the virtue of defending myself and sticking up for my own rights as a law-abiding individual.

It definitely depends on the circumstances.

 

I was always looking fer a way to get rid of the little brats. I've raised 4, two as a single parent and I never forgot they were in the vehicle, usually cause they had a diaper full.

 

Yep how double dare we care about children after they are born!

I agree, however I also realize that isn't always possible/practical. I also realize with the variables in the article, it wasn't life threatening except for the risk of a kidnapper.

2 and 4 !....you do NOT leave kids that young alone EVER!!!....and her "5 minutes" was a whopper......NOBODY can go into a store and make purchases in 5 minutes, which is 5 minutes too long to leave kids....and YES, kidnapping is one scenario and carjacking...

 

No, abortion isn't murder but conservatives who think it's OK to leave kids alone in the care are supporting murder.... murder by neglect is still murder...neglecting children is the same moral equivalent of letting mothers kill their child by locking them in cars...
