LOL. You're going to believe whatever you like as proved several times in the past so why would I expect you to change now?
Any particular brands you like or dislike? I have magpuls for my Bushmaster. A mix of standard steel and composite for my AKs. Usually manufacturer mags for my pistols.
If Magpul is good enough for the USMC, it's good enough for me. I use 30 rounders for the 5.56, 20 rounders for the .300 Blackout to make ID between the calibers easy, and I have some 10 rounders for bench shooting.
I have several magpuls and piles of GI 20/30-round mags. The finish on some of them is pretty worn, but they always work. GI mags only for the M1A. I think I have 10.
That is exactly what was predicted by the anti's and media after we spent four hard years getting the Jack Hagler Self Defense Act passed in Florida in 1987 and also preempted all of the local county and city gun laws.
I stick with twenty round Colt mags, the Bushmaster came with two thirty round mags but I found them to be a serious problem when shooting prone.
This is true - especially when shooting with a sling in competition, where you try to get as low as possible..
I was in Jacksonville that year and recall the controversy. The anti-gun LWers were beside themselves.
Agreed. When hog hunting I'm usually kneeling with a sling or using a tree for support. Since I'm usually shooting from less than 100 yards, it's never a problem.
I remember the weekend before the Senate vote Sara Brady's Handgun Control Incorporated took out full page ad in six Sunday newspapers including the Miami Herald, The Fort Lauderdale News - Sun Sentinel, Ft Meyers News Press and some more I don't remember the names of, proclaiming, if Florida pass's concealed carry law, minor fender benders will turn into shootouts and Florida will be plunged back into the Wild West. Almost all major market TV stations parroted the HCI ad predicting the same would happen. I was in Tallahassee at the time lobbying to get the act passed and as I stated after four hard years of fighting and lobbying the vote was taken and we won, the bills passed and the Governor signed the Act into law. Then to rub salt into the Anti's wounds, license number one was issued to Marion Hammer, the director of the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, the NRA state affiliate, Hammer would later serve as the NRA's President in 1996. As for the bloodbath in the streets never happened and we knew it wouldn't HCI and the anti's where lying through their teeth and to prove them even further incorrect, after passing our concealed carry law, Florida’s homicide rate fell from 36% above the national average to 4% below according to FDLE/FBI numbers.
And, of course, the anti-gun left hoped above all hopes that they would have piles of bodies to stand on while they screamed "I told you so!!" How disappointed they much have been.
And there where people looking for such to happen' but they graciously admitted they where incorrect. Representative Ron Silver who was rabidly against passing the law admitted in 1990 "There are a lot of people, including myself, who thought things would be a lot worse as far as carry reform was concern. I am happy to say they are not. John Fuller, general counsel for the Florida Sheriff's Association, stated, "I haven't seen any instance of person's with licenses causing violent crimes, and I am constantly on the lookout." The effect of the carry law was so pronounced, crimes against tourists actually went up, the problem was traced to the fact rental cars had unique tags and the thugs knowing those people would more than likely would not be armed went after them, preferring not to get shot by a local, in response the Florida DHSMV issued new tags to all rentals in Florida, that looked the same as privately owned vehicles, and the Florida Legislature passed a law requiring all rental companies to remove any decals that would identify the car as belonging to rental company. I know for a fact both Metro-Dade and the BSO actually where renting cars and riding around high crime areas like they where lost, the thugs would attempt to rob the LEO's and sometimes get arrested, sometimes shot and if survived arrested. End result was, by 1991 Floridians where less likely to be murdered then people anyone else in America.
