Wondering what's with all the over-the-top rhetoric against Israel here of late? Friday was Quds Day, the day Jew-hating jihadists and their sympathizers call in feeling genocidal and take the day off to agitate against the Jewish state. Here are but two nuggets from the annual festivities.

First, from the helmet-haired helmsman in Tehran: "Iran's Ahmadinejad: No Place for Israel in Region," from Fox News, August 26

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/0...o-place-for-israel-in-region/?test=latestnews

So the entire area can be an ungovernable disaster.
"Recognition of a Palestinian state is the first step in the liberation of the entire Palestine," he added.

The foreign minister joins in: "Minister: Int'l Quds Day Rallies Echo Crush of Zionists' Bones," from Fars News Agency, August 26:

He never said Israel should be 'wiped off the map' but you knew that already. It's ok, cloggie, we understand your anti-Muslim racist agenda. Most of us ignore you.

The theme of Adaminejad's rhetoric has always been that Zionism will be a thing of the past.

What is going on in Israel... are they still having those huge demonstrations?

Lol, oh but he did. To begin with this is how his statement was translated by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting. Translators in Tehran who work for the president's office and the foreign ministry disagree with them. All official translations of Mr. Ahmadinejad's statement, including a description of it on his website, refer to wiping Israel away. Sohrab Mahdavi, one of Iran’s most prominent translators, and Siamak Namazi, managing director of a Tehran consulting firm, who is bilingual, both say “wipe off” or “wipe away” is more accurate than "vanish" because the Persian verb is active and transitive.

He used a Persian idiom "eliminate from the pages of history/time" which cannot be literally translated into English, the most closely matching English idiom is "wipe off the map". At any rate, the absurd word-smithing of his defenders notwithstanding, the Jewish state wants to be eliminated from the pages of time about as much as it wants to be wiped off the map.

But in case you still disagree, he just repeated it, please see the title of this thread - 'No room for Israel...'.

If Adaminejad isn't on Israel's payroll.... he should be.

Do you think every Holocaust denier and Israel hater is or should be on Israel's payroll, or only the craziest/high profile ones?

Why pay him anyway if the darling of the Israel hating mob is perfectly happy to threaten Israel with annihilation at the expense of the Iranian taxpayer.

Nobody listens to the rote ravings of Adamenijad..... He's a punk and a bag of wind.. He is only useful to Israel in avoiding a just peace.

Oh yeah, right, because the Jews learn from their history that when a madman in charge of a huge country threatens to implement "the final solution of the jewish question" he is just fooling with them and the smart thing to do is to ignore it and laugh it off.

Nonsense, why would Israel threaten Iran, a country 1000 miles away with which Israel is not at war and don't have any territorial disputes. There is absolutely nothing in it for Israel. Israel threatens Iranian nuclear program, not Iran and only because of the hostile Iranian rhetoric threatening Israel with annihilation.

Iran does not need to bomb Israel, there is a lot of "players" in the region who will gladly do it for them. Besides using the nuclear umbrella Iran will supply arms to Israel's enemies ever more brazenly. Don't play stupid.

Your assurances are comforting but with a bellicose, zealously anti Semitic state like Iran, one can never issue guarantees.

The entire middle-east should be vapourized - the world would be a better place without it (use neutron bombs to ensure only the people are vapourized and property remains unscathed).

Time to UNSUBSCRIBE from this Thread, it has deteriorated to the point of being nothing more than poltical correctness gone mad.

    That's a possibility, of course.
Another possibility is that once Israel is bombed, lines are quickly drawn up, the west behind Israel, and China, Russia and the entire middle east stands with Iran.
The threat of a global cataclysm would be great and though Iran would certainly face sanctions and condemnation, Israel would be left with a radioactive hole where it's country use to be (to a great extent).

It's unlikely, I admit that Iran would be suicidal but with a bomb in hand and crazies running the show, who knows? Much better to deny Iran their weapon of mass destruction.

The Arabs don't like Iran's government.. They are huge critics of Iran's support of Hamas and Hezbollah as an obstacle to peace in Palestine.

Why do you think there is so much friction between the GCC and Iran?

So in a showdown where do you think the Arabs would stand?
    With Israel? Not likely.

Neither? In the end Iran is a bigger threat then Israel, there is no way Israel could invade and occupy nations like Iraq and Saudi Arabia, much unlike Iran.

They see Iran as an emerging regional superpower and a bully and not nearly as benevolent as Israel has been. They feel threatened and intimidated and they know their power and influence will erode. They could not care less about peace in the region (at least the kind of peace that will leave Israel as a jewish state).

Israel is not a ' jewish State '. Extremists would like it to be, but it's not. 25% of Israelis are not jewish.
