UN partition resolution 181 declared the creation of an Arab and a Jewish state in Palestine. Duh!

The Palestinians agreed to the Saudi Initiative in 2002 and all Arab states signed on including Syria.

The plan was rejected by Ariel Sharon... He mocked it.

    The plan included:

recognition, trade and diplomatic relations, a guarantee of Israel's security and that Israel would leave the West Bank, Syria's Golan Heights and Lebanon's Shaaba farms.

Fake fear of Iran is a political tactic.

    Res. 181 was advisory.

    The arabs rejected it.

    Returning to the OP.

Iran has clearly threatened Israel on a number of occasions. Some here think it is all just bluster to satisfy the masses. But that doesn't take into account the religious beliefs of Amadinajad and the IRC. The hidden imam is coming and everyone better watch out.

Israel has clearly threatened Iran on a number of occasions, Most notably to bomb the crap out of their nuke program. Since Israel has done it to Iraq and Syria, Iran should take the threat seriously.

It seems rather dumb to think that Iran or Israel could wage war against one another. Neither could get their land forces to engage.

People tell me that Zimbabwe is a democracy too. Maybe you are one of those people? As is the case with the former, Israel is a "democracy" in form not outcome...I know the distinction is beyond you, but nevermind.

I don't accept equating Hamas suicide bombers with Japanese Kamikaze bombers (with the exception that both parties wound up dead, hoping to inflict maximum damage). One is a military application. The other a religious and political one.

My point was that terrorist organizations have used bombs as long as there have been bombs around. But it's been Muslim terrorist organizations that have used suicide by it's members to achieve political goals.

True. And the UN advised to create a Jewish state, your and zulu1's objections that the state cannot be jewish notwithstanding. I am sure you and zulu1 know better than the UN though.

International Law is quoted but you evidently can't be bothered to read. Which part of section 3 did you not bother with? Perhaps the part quoting the Hague and Geneva Conventions stating that occupation must be a temporary measure, for example? How 'temporary' has it been since 1967?

The Geneva Conventions and protocols, along with the Hague conventions, have been in place since long before Palestine was settled by the Jews (Hague since the 19th century), and are applicable in International Law.

Politicians direct the military Yosh. An army doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Res. 181 , of 1947, didn't create any States, arab or jewish. It was advisory. There was no State of Israel until it was unilaterally declared in 1948. Even Truman rejected supporting it as a ' jewish ' State and it is not a jewish State today.

In theory i would approve, i said theory because i think it was established for the sake of argument that Israel needs to be on board on this, that is be an active player in creating the Pal state hence its security needs to be guarenteed in reasonable amount, that can only be proved over time, i mean we wont see a declration date followed by open borders, esablishing an army and millions of arabs can wash in Pal etc', it has to be in stages and over time, in other words when Israel sees there is truly no attacks on it (more than a few months), when Hamas, Jihad and Fatah joins together and work on the foundations of their country and stop the propaganda on the destruction of Israel, isee no reason to approve anything that comes to mind in the new state, who knows maybe we can do buisness together (as should have been)

Israel is ranked #37 in the Democracy Index, it's right next to France (31) and Italy(29), ahead of India, Hungary, Poland, Brazil, Argentina an a ton of other countries that are widely recognized as democratic.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index

PS hate to break it to you but Zimbabwe is #146 (out of 167). People who tell you that Zimbabwe is a democracy are idiots, don't talk to them any more. People who tell you that Israel is a democracy are knowledgeable and correct, you can learn from them.

But is Hamas the only Islamic terrorist group that has ever strapped on dynamite and blown up people? Not even remotely.

What are you trying to claim? That Hezbollah is NOT an Islamic
    organization? That's odd. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

And of course, the Tamil Tigers don't use the tactic of suicide bombing in order to achieve political goals?....Lol.

The point is Israel is a jewish state and there is absolutely nothing wrong or racist with this definition as it was recommended by the UN.

That's the status quo over the past 60 years and Israel is still building settlements in the occupied territories.

Meanwhile.. something is flux because Iran is SCOLDING Syria.

There is nothing in your link indicating that the occupation is illegal. Your interpretations and convoluted explanations of the law you can't possibly understand (not being a lawyer) are irrelevant. Show me an official UN/International Court decision declaring the occupation illegal or shut up.

Well, in the example of Japanese kamikaze bombers, for instance politicians, per se, did not make much of a difference because the Japanese government was run by an imperial/military dictatorship.
