same as the mask mandates. those of you who assured us that mandates were not necessary, that americans can be trusted to do the right thing are wrong.

 

Who assured you that Americans would do the right thing? It seems to me that if we dont have the right to be wrong then we dont have any rights at all...

Yes .. which is not very much .. as I am not in Group B (comorb - pneumonia susceptible- Obese) .. thinking you must have misread post.

Flue/Influenza-Pneumonia kills on average 20 per 100,000 per year. Running the numbers for my region - Deaths from Covid have been 60% higher .. which takes us to 32 per 100,000.

Now while this is not good -- "A BAD FLUE" .. it is not exactly the Plague .. Sure hospitals are stressed .. as they are normally running 80%-100% capacity during Flue-Season .. and increase of 60% obviously will overload.

Omicron is a joke by comparision .. to either the Old Covid .. or the Normal Flue.. Ridiculously low death rate .. but, even with Old Covid the death rate for people not in Group B was extremely low. .. such that with "Delta" for example .. the risk of harm/Death from the vax is higher than the disease.

 

I've been saying for over a year that this is more about control than anything else. The left seemed perfectly fine with forcing people to wear masks, any mask will do, as long as they can force you to wear one, even as their very own stats showed that the kinds of masks that most people wear are only about 10% effective - but masks work and if you wear one you are compliant with their demands, even as masked people spread the virus.

 

Don't know about a disclaimer as I get them individually from the hospital and not in a box, but yes definitely. The regular surgical masks, that healthcare workers routinely wear at work everyday, are better than cloth, not as good as N95, but way more tolerable than N95. I've worn an N95 for 9 hours straight before, but I still hate them much more than regular surgical masks.

Well, the person making that comment is a doctor aka medical professional, so its not that CNN is just making stuff up. There is an agreement among the medical community that Omicron is far more contagious than other variants, and its also common knowledge (for a long time now) that regular mask will not protect you from the virus, but instead reduces the transmission of the virus from you to others. If everyone in a room wore one, there the risk of transmission between people would be greatly reduced.

What is a given is getting vaccinated. If you don't take that as a given, you have no argument to stand on.
Oh, no social distancing was relaxed when we hit a plateau on vaccinations but since about 40% of the country is unable to understand that and different variants are here and more will come because of it, social distancing is back. Again, this stuff is really common sense.

 

Well I guess this is where the "OPEN BORDER" becomes an issue...

Not wearing masks is 0% effective and is sure to spread the virus so what's your point? What percentage would tip you over to being smart?
