i doubt i'll ever sell the many different gold and silver coins i have, i can make plenty of money, but it's not easy to replace those coins
actually even a year ago a silver quarter was still worth about 3 dollars...it was worth about a quarter back in 1964!
That's actually a horrible deal. You could've gotten $3 a piece for slicks just due to the silver content. These days you can get $8 for the same quarter.
I think we understand perfectly. You want to complain that your precious metals aren't making you any money, but you don't want to sell them. The problem ain't the silver, it's you. If you want to turn a profit, sell. If you want to keep your collection, don't whine about how "it just sits there doing nothing".
I just understand that you just dont want to sell....but dont complain that its doing nothing because it is up 10 fold. Any equity whether its stocks, real estate, precious metals or whatever is just sitting there unless you sell.
Yes, but distributions are discounted in the share price, so in effect, you have sold off some of your share for immediate gain. Not a really clever argument. Sorry to inform you.
It's not supposed to perform over the long term. That's why they call it a hedge. It has performed over the last few years, tho'. Can you name any other investment that has tripled in value in just 2 years? Neither here nor there, tho'. You've got the stuff and you don't want to sell it. No point in complaining about your own decision. If you want to make a bundle of money, you can always sell it.
nothing performs over the long term: In the 50's and 60's and again in the 80's and 90's then paper assets was the place to be In the 70's and again now since 2001 commodities and expecially gold and silver is the place to be!
I was introduced by my father to some of the biggest coin brokers in the southeast at the age of 14. My great grandfather was the largest holder of gold/silver in the state of TN at one time, some of it made it's way to me, over 300 lbs.
I tell people I have 700 ounces of silver and lots of gold coins too....who cares...they dont know where I live
Yeah, you know if the (*)(*)(*)(*) ever really hit the fan and money became worthless, it's not the authorities that concern me, or the government commandeering my stuff, it's the people without that worry me. In that situation I would fear anyone who sees me to have more than others.
