John Kasich says he'll leave the Republican party if it doesn't fix itself

    In a move that surprised many who didn't think Ohio governor John Kashich was still a republican he says he will leave the party if it can't be "fixed" (i.e. made more like the democrats, in my opinion).
    "If the party can't be fixed, Jake, then I'm not going to be able to support the party," Kasich told CNN's Jake Tapper. "Period. That's the end of it."

    Based on his performance in the 2016 party primary (154 delegates pledged...1,083 needed according to CNN https://ballotpedia.org/John_Kasich_presidential_campaign,_2016) I'm wondering once again, who feels threatened by such a threat? Or why bring it up in the first place?

    With John McCain fighting his brain cancer (he may be soon going to that big leftist media friendly round table in the sky) Kasich would fill that void of the democrat's favorite republican soon and have his fragile ego stroked every time he stands up and denounces Trump or conservative values that seem too conservative for his tastes (or those of his media patrons).

    As a governor of a key state he has that going in his favor but if Trump's approval ratings stay high even that bargaining chip might not do him much good. In fact a backlash against his anti Trump agenda may wind up threatening his gubernatorial position in Ohio.

    Wouldn't that be too bad!

    But if he runs third party he may bleed a few votes away from the GOP in 2020

    He’s a sore loser

    Or, as Gov. Mike Huckabee has said, "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya."

    It seems John wants to improve on Trump's strengths.

    "He denied the potential of becoming an independent, but said he wanted to "straighten out" the GOP on issues like trade, debt, and immigration, where Kasich is to the left of President Donald Trump". He should have been Hillary's running mate.

    The dems are going full speed to the left

    I suppose they could leave a few democrats behind who might settle for.kasich
