Racial genetic separatist pseudo-science is not what it takes to be "successful." The "Whatever it takes" he was talking about was said racial genetic separatist pseudo-science, brought into the discussion as a way to try to defend a murderous idiot against the observation that he was, well, a murderous idiot.

Hitler invaded in good weather. He assumed it would be over quickly. True he was lousy in military operations but he did please the Germans. One reason why he pleased them so much was his socialist plans and actual operations.

Well, if only that could be demonstrated in any country.

Oh, I forgot, we're simultaneously carrying on a giant experiment in numerous countries simultaneously.

Wonder if the Left will accept the blame when that goes wrong, or shift it onto someone else.

    I have.

And I have two theories as to why this is so:

    (1) Their commitment to equality which means that the gifted and talented have to be shut down. That is the reasoning behind DeBlasio's attack on NYC exam schools.

    (2) They want to fundamentally transform society which requires dismantling existing institutions. A poster on this forum once observed that racism is woven into the fabric of our society. If you believe this, you are going to have to unweave society to get rid of it.

I'm sorry, but that sentence made no sense. Not faulting you for typos or anything, but what were you trying to say?

Edit: looks like you edited while I was responding. If you seriously want to argue that no other country has produced successful philosophers, musicians, scientists, etc, then you are welcome to keep playing in that fantasy land.

You might think that the way you explained Hitler the very intelligent Germans would know it and stopped it.

Two minutes of rational reflection should show you that this isn't necessarily a genetic experiment. Five minutes or so should tell you that there have been geniuses from other countries.

I'm not on the left. But those on the right need to make up their minds. One minute they are claiming that Hitler was a quintessential leftist, the next they are saying that anyone who objects to Hitler must be a leftist. Which is it?

I can compare Democrats to the German citizens who believed what Hitler told them.

It is possible that Democrats actually believe they will do good. Germans believed that of Hitler. Democrats think they have the master key to economics. Germans believed that about Hitler. And on and on.

Some tried. Hell, I'll raise a beer to them right now (a Dos Equis, ironically enough created by German immigrants in Mexico). But he managed to convince or force enough of them to comply to turn his country into a hell hole.

Wasn't it just a hell hole because of the simultaneous war on two fronts, and virtual civil war domestically that turned things into a police state?

I could see many other countries in Europe going the same way if put into that situation.

A war on two fronts . . . caused by Hitler's interventionism and a virtual civil war/police state . . . also caused by Hitler. Congrats. You get it now.

I didn't know who he was until I heard his speaking engagement was being protested by college students. I bought his book, 12 Rules for life, and don't understand what the big deal is.

I think this will just end up helping him sell more books.

Bracket Hitler. [1933-1939] followed by [1940-1945]

1933-1939 was an era of remarkable explosion of jobs, non inflationary cash, good feelings by German citizens and progress as a country.

1940-1945 War. Yes he had earlier invaded Poland but the world was not very concerned.

That 5 year period included destruction to Germany with an enormous loss of German lives.

We should not ignore his first successes. I think that is what Germans admired and as time passed, they dreaded war. They were being destroyed.

He's got some good stuff and some bad. He also has a habit of talking in really, really ambiguous terms that just complicate the situation, and his inconsistent philosophical positions don't help. But yeah, it will probably just help him sell more books by playing the victim card and/or giving him more publicity.

They all fall in line with the passive, no self responsibility, I need a surrogate mommy, give me free **** crowd. The politicians are seizing the opportunity to expand their power. It all sounds so soft and sweet and benevolent. Who could be against it?

I agree. I do not understand today the current Democrats state of mind. They treat such events as were they having Chemotherapy and they fear their loss of hair. They get furious. Block speakers is normal for them.

Those "good feelings" were accompanied by a lot of very, very bad actions. And I don't owe him any recognition for "successes." If you share the limited government views of the man in your avatar and mentioned in your sig (thank you for introducing me to his works), you should be rejecting him too.

Witness the last presidential election which broke down to two turds like Trump and Clinton....Is that the best we got? Jesus Christ!!! Our political process of choosing leaders is a bad joke being perpetrated upon us by greedy scumbags.

Sounds like the Dr. Phil show. The View runs him a good race. They daily are the victims. So bad now that none of the women truly do the job that Elizabeth Hasselbeck had done. She is to be on this week on the View. A breath of fresh air will enter that program but the left will shout her down.

You are responding to someone who is attempting to defend Hitler and his racial nationalism from criticism. The ethno-state is the ultimate "surrogate mommy" preaching free **** and "you're such a big boy" to the prerequisite favored race, and it isn't like they were against "seizing the opportunity to expand their power." Come on, man.

You are defending Hitler . . . but you think Clinton or Trump are somehow worse by comparison? Objectively, no, they aren't. I'm not a fan of either, but both have rotting objects between their teeth that are more admirable than the Nazis.
