That's not correct. In order for a case to be heard, there has to be "standing".

    This means...

The case is being brought before the court that has the jurisdiction to hear the case.
The case must be the correct type (a civil case isn't heard in criminal court or vice versa).
The merits of the case have to show that X happened (or didn't happen) AND that caused measurable harm.
The case has to seek some resolution the court can provide (ie. Trump can't say kill Biden and all Democrats for 3 future generations).

What Trump, Giuliani and Powell attempted to do was work the case in the other direction.

For example, think about a time that you were shocked or unconscious. Once the initial trauma is over and your body starts to calm down, your brain will automatically try to remember what happened between Point A (the last thing you clearly remembered) and Point B (waking up in a hospital). Your brain needs to make sense of that "fuzzy" period and will try to fill in the blanks.

Basically, that's what Trump is doing (although he knows there wasn't fraud. That's a con game). He pitched the "ending" (I lost the election) and filled in a convenient backstory (something illegal must have happened). That works on tv and to his supporters but that's not how it works in a court of law. So, when a case is dismissed for "no standing" it means that the **foundation** of the claim has no merit.

He needed to run out the clock on the criminal indictments that were pending while he was POTUS. He can't be arrested, tried or convicted while in office so he needed to be re-elected. So, he told his supporters (in the Summer of 2020) that fraud was going to happen. He counted on them believing what he said and he kept saying it until he got them to believe it. It's not illegal to lie anywhere outside a courtroom. It IS illegal to lie under oath (which is why Powell admitted that she lied about widespread election fraud and Giuliani is preparing to go to prison. They both will lose their law licenses).

Exactly. There are different rules for different people and rich people always get special privileges because they design the playbook. ;-)

Trump made a mistake in running for President. He's a career criminal and that doesn't work when the whole world is watching. It's tragic because he is very influential and could easily boost an up-an-comer but he's too egotistical to think about anybody but himself or his own party. It's a waste. He clearly has charmed some people and he chooses to waste it on his pettiness and narcissism.

I think people are giving entirely too much time to Trump. I seriously doubt he will ever win an nomination again from any political party.

Trump was Trump and he was the president once.... For better or worse that page has now turned.

It's time to focus on what we have today and going forwards. Let's not tell ourself that Trump was the most criminal President we ever had who escaped justice of any sort.

He who is without sin cast the first stone.

Did you see "Brokeback Mountain"? There was a line in there in which Gyllenhaal's character tells Ledger's character "I just can't quit you."

That's what I think of when you all say "Forget Trump". We WANT to forget him. We really do. He won't go away and he's holding the party by the short ones because he's too self-centered to go have his dumb@ss a seat somewhere. ;-) He has people all over the place sending out his Monday Morning Quarterback calls. He said he would go away and never be heard from again if he lost. When is that going to happen?

WTF are you talking about “the dems tried in the previous elections” ?

You understand that the federal government has no role in how each state chooses their electors or how they are required to vote right ?

You know that many states today do not require their electors to vote for the winner of the popular vote, and that most states actually have multiple slates of electors and they decide which ones to send based on the popular vote right ?

No. They haven't don't any research, called their own state elected officials to get a better understanding of how it works. Why would they? The idiot doesn't care what's in our Constitution and election laws. They are willfully complicit in helping him try to burn it all to the ground. They don't care. He sat and watched for hours and didn't lift a finger while the mob he incited beat the hell out of Capitol police officers on camera. They deny that happened and the whole world saw it! Five cops are dead and hundreds of injured and our self-proclaimed "law and order president" hasn't said one word about them.

Do you honestly think they would have a hard time believing anything he says that wasn't televised, photographed and recorded repeatedly?

Why do you torture yourself so? You know that doesn't matter.

I've asked him a gazillion times to explain that "logic" because the only way that works is every crime in every area for all time has been solved. Also, it's very common for police officers, detectives and attorneys to know that someone is guilty of a crime but building the case is difficult and that cost time, money and energy (which those same "geniuses" scream that the losers that beat the hell out of Capitol police officers are being left to "rot" in jail). They don't seem to mind when black and brown people are stuck in jail indefinitely, but hey what do they have if not flagrant double-standards and superiority complexes?

In summary, don't bother. Nothing registers. He's like his Orange Lord - echo chamber of just stuff made up on the fly.

That is how commies roll. Saying something is "likely" illegal then declaring it was illegal.

Who was this person? What position in the Trump administration did they hold? Are you being coy about that information because you know the answer is sure to disappoint your comrades and illicit laughter from your opponents?

What is really going on is that the judge is giving a nudge to Garland 'you have my blessing to prosecute', in case Garland is dragging his feet because, well, hell, it will be historic, if he does it and it will take a lot of courage.

    Hear! Hear!

I've been saying it for close to a year. This is NOT about partisanship. At this point, it's not even about politics. He is toxic and I would not like him or trust him in any position anywhere at any time for any reason.

I was knocked to my knees the day that bastard sat there and watched the riot he incited turn into a mob attack against POLICE OFFICERS. I couldn't watch. I already had PTSD before he took office and that riot set me back. I can't get the few minutes I did see out of my vision. And, he sat there and didn't do a damn thing for them. I had come to terms with the fact that some of his supporters were a bit "extra" but you couldn't have paid all the money in the world (not rubles. lol) on January 5th, 2021 to believe that ***ANYBODY*** that claims they love our country and respect our soldiers and law enforcement would try to sweep that BS under the rug as an "invited tour"...I would have lost that bet.

People say that "the shot heard around the world" in reference to Kennedy being assassinated. As a former cop, I can tell you that we are trained to deal with mobs. We are trained to deal with high emotions. We are trained in hand to hand combat. We know that we and/or our partner might not make it back home each time we hit the street. Every police officer thinks about anything and everything that can go wrong except ONE.

NO law enforcement officer anywhere in this country has ever been trained or prepared to hear the EXCRUCIATING SILENCE of their own President ignoring an angry mob he incited attacking our brothers and sisters in blue. He reportedly watched that in glee. Five Capitol officers died as a direct or indirect result of that riot. Hundreds more are injured with mounting medical bills and that SOB is bilking his supporters for millions of dollars per month and hasn't even said those officers' names. I tried. I can't forgive him and I won't forgive anybody that continues to defend him.

And, he compounds his selfishness and narcissism by stealing from his own donors' bank accounts. Some of them were on fixed incomes. They couldn't pay their bills or buy their medications and he told his staff to ignore them. He waited for a judge to FORCE him to refund that money...money he took without authorization. Some of them passed away waiting for those refunds. He was never at risk of homelessness, without medication or without food and just like his selfish dumb@ss stalling the release of the stimulus checks so his name could be printed on them, he has NO concept of the problems millions of people face when they miss one or two bills. Who steals from old people? That's sick.

Finally, I told myself that it would be impossible for him to sink even lower than all the above. Again, I would have lost that bet. He not only has the nerve to play Monday Morning quarterback on all of Biden's actions (a job he walked off to campaign full-time after screwing up COVID (and his own supporters are dying at 3x the rate of other demographics)) he publicly praised a psychopathic dictator and called his own country's leaders "dumb". The kicker is if any other former President said that and doubled-down, every person in this country would be calling for him to be exiled as a traitor.

This is way, way beyond politics. They don't see it because he's gaslighted them to think he's the victim. Trump will gladly burn this country to the ground and he's got them hanging on the edge of their seats waiting for the word to repeat that Capitol attack if he finally gets convicted for *some* of his crimes. They keep claiming that he was a "strong" leader. No, he wasn't. A strong leader knows when it's time to step back and do what's right for his or her people. Not only can't he do that, his brain doesn't even process that other people exist for any reason other than for him to manipulate and con.

I've never been this brokenhearted or ashamed of our fellow Americans as I have been these past few years. I try every day to figure out how I can make a path toward forgiveness but I can't. I've never not been able to so I don't know if it's possible.

Now that's even worse. If we've got judges adjuciating cases that haven't appeared on their dockets, declaring people guilty of 'crimes' that haven't been reported, you know what does to the presumption of innocence? Gone, poof, presto. I just find it silly how people who claimed for four years they wanted to 'defend the system' are taking a bigger sledgehammer to the system than Trump did in four years.

So it seems to me, it was never about defending the institutions, or 'the rule of law' or any therein excuses from the era of 2016-2020. It was about this moment, this opportunity and it can't be let passed, because if it is passed then he will god forbid die a natural death!

And, you have the audacity to claim you aren't a Trump apologist. <smdh>

I am certain you would have an issue with any other person in the WH circumventing an investigation in which several hundred police officers were injured, five died as a direct or indirect result of our president inciting a riot and he has done everything he possibly can to burn the country to the ground. You might call that "drivel" but clearly enough people know that he's a threat to our domestic tranquility and a traitor to our country.

And, his orange stain will take generations to clean off We, the People's house. He could just go away like he promised but rest assured he will haunt the halls of the White House for centuries to come.

It's too late for all that. He's gaslighted thousands of them into mini-mes. I'm starting to wonder if it's Stockholm Syndrome. He turned his back on the people that crossed the country and beat up police officers and stole from his own donors' bank accounts. Why would anybody still stand with him? I'm in the Midwest and I'm afraid it's too close to the Orange Stain in Florida. Yuck.

There is nothing "criminal" about inquierie into that which as adjudicated by one judge in one district as "not within standing"... Now I don't speak necessarily on this case (as I do not have all the facts) - but I do see the trajectory of a 'rail roading' & don't particularly like it! Sentiment & emotional attachment to a particular cause - should be devoid of emotion & based purely on facts, tangible evidence... imho

Let's open op 'the Hunter files' - or is that idealistically 'not comfortably' to deal with... ?

Just one more federal judge who wears a black robe but abandons what it is supposed to represent and goes after Trump like any other common Trump hater.

Having my two feet firmly on the ground and not having a vendetta isn't the same as being an apologist for someone. I simply don't have the vendetta everyone else has towards the former occupant of the WH(that former word now scathing to the Left, because it puts in prospective how ridiculous they are.) To this day, you hold a vendetta(perhaps for you it's personal) due to the officers who died, but they largely took their own lives or died of natural causes. No one has been charged for any of their "murders".

We must live within the prism of reality, even as that reality doesn't reflect what we want it to. To do otherwise, is to drive ourselves mad. If the reality is that Trump is a criminal, that will bare itself out. If the reality is, he hasn't been charged with a crime then people(including his honor) will have to accept that fact, or drive themselves delusional.
