This was surprising because we have long used masks in medicine, and like a lot of basic, basic everyday interventions there just has never been the robust research. Some of that is down to difficulty in study design (how to truly double blind mask/no mask) and some down to ethics (do you REALLY want to be on the arm of the study where your doctor is NOT wearing a mask?) Natural and informal research showing that counties and countries that have abided mask wearing have cut infection rates by vast numbers has provided the evidence that research has not. The real truth is that for the faithful Fauci HAS to be wrong because he spoke out against Trump
Wearing a mask is optional here in Texas and almost no one does. Yet we are 43d out of 50 states in China Virus deaths.
Total deaths is not the pacing item. Its deaths PER 100,000 population. England has more China Virus deaths than Roanoke Virginia. Does that mean they are doing a worse job at prevention? Or does it mean that England has a boatload more people?

USA is 18th in nations of the world in COVID deaths PER 100,000. 18th isn't good... but its certainly not the worst. We're doing ok here. Tomorrow I'll take my wife to the beach... then out for a steak... then maybe a movie. We'll have fun talking for hours. I bet we don't mention the China Virus at all... not even once. We have so many more fun things to discuss... like maybe going on a cruise. We haven't been on one for quite awhile.
